Hi all,

I'd like to buy them at Whole Foods, but their selection is nill. So I'm looking for your favorite brands of Gluten-free Casein-free bagels, english muffins, and pizza crusts.

I've tried gluten-free products on my own and whoo! Sometimes I get a good one, and others, not so good :)

So before I go shopping online, spending a whole bunch of $$ on stuff that turns out to be in the not so good pot, I really would like recommendations from those who are in the know.

Ener-G Foods Brown Rice Sweet Potato English Muffins are my favorite. They're so thick I often slice them in 4 horizontal slices for sandwiches. They're very nutritionally balanced also, but I'm not sure whether that's a concern for you. I'd recommend you look at www.ener-g.com. They have a WIDE selection of breads, muffins, cookies, brownies, pastas, donuts, snack foods and baking supplies. Although all their products are gluten free, they also indicate in their catalog whether dairy, soy, eggs, yeast, etc. are included in their products.

I love Kinnikinnick and Foods by George products...I know they are gluten free but I am not sure about anything else they are free of.

Does Kinnikinnik ship their items frozen? I want to buy everything in sight, but it will go bad before we can eat all of it. If not, do you buy in bulk and then freeze everything?

Open Original Shared Link has an amazing Poppy Seed Bagel!!! They are vacuum packed and frozen. I buy them locally so I don't know about shipping.

It's about the only bread I eat, but then I've never been a bread lover! ;)

Oh, I also use their Pretzels, crushed in place of bread crumbs! They're perfect for any recipe calling for bread or cracker crumbs! :D

Why didn't I think of that!!!!

I spent almost an hour last night toasting bread, letting it dry out, running it through the food processor, then baking it to make bread crumbs.

Kinnikinnik does ship their breads, muffins, crusts etc. frozen.

I bought a freezer a few weeks ago. Boy is that paying off!

Food Processor??? :blink: Kidding! :lol:

I use my good old solid maple rolling pin and the empty cereal bag saved from gluten-free Corn Flakes, which also make great crumbs, esepcially mixed with crushed pretzels and used as a coating for chicken strips! :rolleyes:

Mmmm, hungry now! :lol:

Ordered one of everything (just about) from kinnicknincickicn - you know what I mean :)

Will try Ms. Robsen's too - I think that is funny because someone else recommended Ms Robsen's, I had it up on the web, my machine froze, had to reboot and could not remember the site. Thank you all again!

      Not necessarily. The "Gluten Free" label means not more than 20ppm of gluten in the product which is often not enough for super sensitive celiacs. You would need to be looking for "Certified Gluten Free" (GFCO endorsed) which means no more than 10ppm of gluten. Having said that, "Gluten Free" doesn't mean that there will necessarily be more gluten than "Certified...

      I think it is wise to seek a second opinion from a GI doc and to go on a gluten free diet in the meantime. The GI doc may look at all the evidence, including the biopsy report, and conclude you don't need anything else to reach a dx of celiac disease and so, there would be no need for a gluten challenge. I almost said no because she made it in her kitchen but I thought it would be ok.  Next day and for a few after his behavior is awful. Hitting, rude, disrespectful. Mainly he kept saying his legs were shaking. Is this a gluten exposure symptom that anyone else gets? Also the bad behavior?

      I think it is wise to seek a second opinion from a GI doc and to go on a gluten free diet in the meantime. The GI doc may look at all the evidence, including the biopsy report, and conclude you don't need anything else to reach a dx of celiac disease and so, there would be no need for a gluten challenge. But if the GI doc does want to do more testing, you can worry about the gluten challenge at that time. But between now and the time of the appointment, if your symptoms improve on a gluten free diet, that is more evidence. Just keep in mind that if a gluten challenge is called for, the bare minimum challenge length is two weeks of the daily consumption of at least 10g of gluten, which is about the amount found in 4-6 slices of wheat bread. But, I would count on giving it four weeks to be sure.

      thank you both for the insights. i agree, im going to back off on dairy and try sucraid. thanks for the tip about protein powder, i will look for whey protein powder/drinks!   i don’t understand why my doctor refused to order it either. so i’ve decided i’m not going to her again, and i’m going to get a second opinion with a GI recommended to me by someone with celiac. unfortunately my first appointment isn’t until February 17th. do you think i should go gluten free now or wait until after i meet with the new doctor? i’m torn about what i should do, i dont know if she is going to want to repeat the endoscopy, and i know ill have to be eating gluten to have a positive biopsy. i could always do the gluten challenge on the other hand if she does want to repeat the biopsy.    thanks again, i appreciate the support here. i’ve learned a lot from these boards. i dont know anyone in real life with celiac.
