Does This Sound Like A Reaction?

my son has been having stomach issues for 6+ months. i took him off gluten 6 days ago(Thursday) when pulling diary didn't change anything. 2 days later we went to a birthday party and he got into the mini cupcakes and ate a few. he also had quite a few chocolate candies, kisses and peanut butter cups. with in an hour or so he started bending over from pain in his stomach and back. his stomach was super bloated. we gave him some zantac and went home. in the middle of the night he woke me up and burped in my face. it was an awful sulfur burp and diarrhea soon followed. the next day was just foul sulfur gas. after that he was back to normal but said he belly hurt a little yesterday.

does that sound pretty typical for gluten reaction? i wondered if it was the chocolates. his GI thinks he has celiac disease based on his history but i got his blood work results this morning and everything was normal. we're going to pursue an endoscopy to confirm.

To the best of my knowledge, if you have burps and farts that smell like sulfur, it is likely that you have an H.Pylori infection. Usually accompanied by nausea, bloating, fatigue, diarrhea. Antacids usually help for a couple of hours, but it comes back. Symptoms usually worsen at night.

he had a full panel stool testing a few weeks ago. no parasites or infection, everything came back normal. he hasn't had any more issues since Sunday evening when the gas finally passed. i need to have him eat some gluten foods for the endoscopy so i guess we'll see if it happens again.

anyone else ever have this happened from gluten?

My son and I both get bloated stomachs and burping from gluten. I'm not sure whether the burps smell like sulphur or not. Poor little guy. I hope you get things figured out.

I eat a lot of dairy but its intermittent is this burning so I would assume it would happen all the time. Plus I have been tested for lactose intolerance  etc and I am fine and the other symptoms of that I don't get. As a aside  my dad died last month after a long illness so I wonder if the stress of that might be a influence as a bodily reaction to stress.

You should be fine.  You may start feeling better within a few days.  Someone who is very low in thiamine may notice improvement within hours.   Did you get the NeuroMag  or another magnesium supplement?

Yes Bobs redmill cgf oatmeal I started when I became gluten-free. So taking all 3 with breakfast should work? Will I notice any reactions getting used to these or should I be fine. Thanks

Hello, @pilber309, welcome to the forum! Are you currently consuming dairy?   You mentioned something about lots of yogurt and cheese, but did you cut it out or are you eating lots of it?   Could you clarify please? Some people with Celiac react to casein, the protein in dairy the same as to gluten with antibodies and villi damage.
