Interesting article...thanks for sharing. I had intestinal candida for a while until we finally got me on something to clear it up. I wonder if that also contributed to me getting celiac disease.

interesting. My celiac def. flared up rather intensely after a severe systemic candida infection after my C-section incision got infected and I was injected with massive doses of antibiotics (which ALWAYS trigger yeast infections in me).

I took the article to my doctor (general practitioner) and she really appreciated it. It's a good resource because it actually documents medical journals. I *still* have a candida infection and am wondering if the gluten free diet is really doing that much good while I have it :huh: I mean... I do feel better, but if your body recognizes candida (with an identical protein sequence) as wheat - then wouldn't it seem that your body thinks it has gluten in it all the time?

I've had this infection for over a year (recurrent) and I seriously think it is correlated to my increase in health problems - with celiac, allergies, and everything else.

I'm more that a little bit disturbed by this! I need to get copies of the actual journals to take to my gastro & ask him it.

Hi Bean,

i do believe your on the right path with mercola, holland and kaufmann. Personnaly, i am ont the mercola no grain diet and doug kaufmann's diet also for 6 month. I can't say i am completely healed but i have gain weight (muscles) that i had lost when fallen sick 2 years ago. i can say that i have experienced more improvement in 6 month than in 1 year and a half on gluten free diet alone.

After 1 year on gluten free diet, i started to have allergies i did'nt had before (in other words, my case was worsening). i have bought methabolic typing diet by wolcott and fahey and in this book, there is a test to see what is your methabolic type (protein type, carb type, or the mixed type). It turned out for me that i was a protein type. that explain why i do improve on the mercola no grain diet and the diet of doug kaufmann. Now , i am testing the theory of wolcott and fahey about oxalic acid and calcium absorbtion, and my body seem to respond verry well to that theory also.

i mean, i have always did sport and one of the most frustrating thing whit celiac disease for me was i didn't had the same performances as before. but now that performances problem seems to be story of the past. so if you want to try something, i do believe this is something to give a try.

A great website for yeast infections is candidafree.com. They state that their product out of Japan cures candida in 100% of the cases. It is not an overnight thing - takes up to six months. The testimonial section is quite impressive. I am taking their product, ThreeLac and am seeing so steady results - I have gluten-free for nine weeks and on ThreeLac for about four weeks. Some of the more outstanding symptoms of candida are abating. Hope this helps. Thanks so much for the article. I think that ruling out celiac/candida in chronic illnesses of any sort makes so much difference. I am a therapist and am seeing a lot of positive changes in my clients who are bi-polar and are willing to go gj.

      This kind of question is always difficult to give a definitive answer to because of so many variables. One such variable is the sensitivity of the individual celiac to small amounts of gluten cross contamination. An amount that causes a reaction in one celiac many not in another, or at least not be discernable which, of course, does not exactly equate to being "safe".
