my docs office today told me my wheat test was negative but my IgE levels were elevated so its 'tricky.'

does this mean i have a wheat intolerance, etc? celiac maybe?

i googled and it said celiac disease or atopic dermatitis. my legs are constantly breaking out in HUGE itchy welts.

You'll have to be more specific technically. An overall IgE test or specific IgE test? What "wheat test"? What type of doctor? The rash that you get, is it bilaterally symmetrical?

hmm.

i had bloodwork done bc i've been chronically constipated my whole life.

as of 3 years ago, i began developing hives; EVERYWHERE from the waist down only.

not sure what you mean about bilaterally symetrical. i could upload a pic but i do not know how. they begin as large welts and then subside into smaller, redden bumps as the day goes on.

There are many different tests that can be run in regards to intestinal issues and even multiple tests that can be ordered having to do with wheat so it would be important to know exactly which type of tests were actually run. As far as the symmetry goes, dermatitis herpetiformis normally shows up with bilateral symmetry meaning that if you get the hives in one area on one leg you'll get them in somewhat the same area on the other leg. Look up pictures and descriptions of that online, may be relevant to your case.

i just went to my regular GP and he did the bloodwork. i dont think it was done 'special' or anything?

as far as the DH goes, it doesn't seem to be exact on the other leg.

"bloodwork" just means they removed some of your blood. We'd have to know the exact tests that were done in order to answer your primary question. The symmetry of DH isn't exactly a mirror image, it's just that it will show up most often on both sides, not just one regardless of the actual pattern on both sides.

allergy=IgE

celiac=IgA or IgG

It could sound like DH, and if you can get a diagnosis for DH, that automatically means celiac.

      Thanks rmj when I first rang up it was we can't do it without , but I talked to a lovely lady and she sorted it all out for me, so it pays to be persistent , I would have had to decline if I hadn't been given the water option too , so yes I'm glad too 😌

      I’m so glad they listened to your concerns!  I hope you get some answers from the MRI.

      Had my MRI today I didn't have to have the manitol with my allergy's , I just had a litre of water , they were great with my concerns , so let's see if anything comes of if will keep posted once I have results 👍

      Thank you ,it’s been a long road for me for having both now ,what upsets the most is that if they discovered that I also have cealiac earlier I would not have injested gluten if I was aware. Double whammy.
