Major Flatulence

Hi

I noticed a couple of threads about really bad stinky wind, my daughter has been gluten free for nearly a year, but the flatulence has not improved. She has wind so bad and its so smelly, I really want to help her, been at school and with other children, I don't want her to feel uncomfortable or embarrassed as she grows up.

Her diet is pretty bland, she has organic cornflakes with A2 milk and a sliced banana, she tried rice or soy but she will not have it (I only use rice) I found A2 and I think it improved slightly, she doesn't really eat or drink the milk and I try not to let her have other dairy products, too much I notice does make it worse. She has gluten-free toast with honey. Lunch is sometimes left overs such as spag bol, or corn thins / crackers. Dinner is either Chicken and veggies or rice, spag bol, rice noodles.

I have not noticed any other particular foods make it better or worse. She wont take tablets and its hard to get many supplements into her but any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks

Lisa

Lisa, have you tried her on almond milk? Or Lactaid (lactose free) milk? What about yogurt? If she is just lactose intolerant these should be okay for her. On the other hand, if it is all dairy (casein), then I don't think even A2 would work. The almond milk (which is delicious) should work for her if you can get her to try it. Maybe first make it into a banana shake for her to get her used to it. Does she eat any other fruits - berries for example? These would work in a shake too.

Corn is also one of the top eight allergens so you might try switching her to a rice-based cereal - rice puffs or some such - because she could be reacting to the corn. I can't handle corn.

Just a couple of thoughts.

Ooo, I feel her pain. Unsweetened Vanilla Almond Milk, I recommend Blue Diamond. It is AWESOME on cereal. Also, roughage can cause some major flatulence, and for some, corn. I JUST added back dairy, and I feel pretty good on it, but it took some time. You might want to start playing with her diet, too. The body can get used to certain foods and then even they can be a problem. Add in some fruit, quinoa, fish, red meat, see how she does with beans -- though, those are a BIG no-no for me. Potatoes made different ways, soop-up a sweet potato, etc. Just some ideas. I have major issues with gas, too, and these are things I've found that work for my system.

She has been having Garlic supplements to boost her immunity for winter, I didnt give her any yesterday and noticed an improvement with the wind :)

Thanks for all the replies

Also just as an aside, any sugar free treats using sugar Alcohol can case gas and bloating. Many things using a table sugar "substitute" - in a young child can cause issues.

Read the labels and stay away from that stuff, at least for a while.

I have trouble with nausea. It often starts when I’m anxious about something (home repairs, sick dog) but continues long after the home is repaired or the dog is healthy again. When it happens I eat less and lose weight.  My gastroenterologist suggested ginger or peppermint tea. I don’t know if that will work or not because I haven't had the problem since she suggested it.

Hello  I'm not sure what to think . Seems no matter what I do I get sick. I had some yogurt with only 2 grams of sugar and is labeled gluten free ...the strawberry version seemed to really set me off My jaw is burning as well as my stomach and my feet.  Horrible pain..plus acid reflux and nausea... sensitivity to touch pain. ..yikes !! I don't know if it's from the lactose in the yogurt or if I'm getting an ulcer  This condition can make you question yourself quite a bit.  Then if you are not sure the anxiety comes 😞 Does any of these symptoms sound familiar to anyone? The neuropathy is quite intense.  What do you eat or drink after this happens  Open to suggestions  Thank you

Of course my son is on a 100% gluten free diet.  I wish his symptoms were not debilitating as there are right now.  He cannot work, even when a miniscule of cross contamination occurs.  It's not just GI distress, but intense fatigue, brain fog, depression, anxiety, insomnia, etc.  It's literally neurological inflammation.  Not to be taken lightly here.  We have sought out many other possible ways to cope during this window of time (8 months!!!!)  without success.   AN-PEP does not help and seems like studies on this are not well researched.  So, we are trying this out because research shows some promising results.  And, all participants showed no cravings afterwards, no signs of addiction.  The patch is different than the oral route such as smoking, vaping, gum, pouch, etc.

Have you tried AN-PEP enzymes, for example, GlutenX (who is a sponsor here)? A lot of research has shown that it can break down small amounts of gluten in the stomach, before it reaches the intestines. It might be a better approach than risking nicotine addiction, and the questionable research around this. I also hope that he’s trying to be 100% Gluten-Free.

Hi all  I was diagnosed Coeliac a few years ago and follow a gluten free diet. The list of foods that I can eat without a problem grows shorter on a weekly basis. [I also have diabetes and asthma also].  BUT the reason I am posting this is because I seem to struggle with nausea quite a lot, which is really quite debilitating, and I was wondering if others suffer from nausea, even if following a gluten free diet.
