Fruit Stripe Gum

i called farley's & sathers, the makers of fruit stripe gum, to check on their gluten-free status since the ingredients include natural and artificial flavors. the lady read through the ingredients and said that it didn't contain wheat because there is no allergen alert of any of the big 8. this was my first call to a company so i didn't think to inquire further. i took it to mean that their company labels anything with the big 8 on it, so if there's no warning, it's not in there. should i call back and grill her further? what would you do? here's what their website says:

"Allergen/Gluten List Policy

For product specific information regarding the Big 8 allergens and cross-contamination associated with these allergens, please contact Farleys & Sathers Candy Company, Inc. Consumer Relations at 1-888-247-9855 or complete our Feedback form to receive information. Due to changes that may occur in the manufacturing and packaging environments, Farley's & Sathers Candy Company, Inc. does not provide allergen or gluten free lists."

I don't know about that specific product as I don't chew gum but I usually ask if there is any wheat, rye or barley in the product or it's natural flavors when I call about a product. Wheat is in the 8 allergen listing but barley, oats and rye are not.

so i sent another email to clarify: "i have an allergy question about your baby bottle pop 2D mix. does it, or the 'natural and artificial flavors' within it, contain any wheat, barley, rye, or oat ingredients? my daughter has celiac's disease and cannot tolerate any of those."

the response i got was: "All of our products are gluten free."

would you trust a response like that?

Why wouldn't you trust it? I would.

BTW, we've done other articles on this topic that I wanted to share here (not to condone smoking!):

Hi everyone  This has been a crazy year so far... How many people actually get entire sensory overload from gluten or something similar ?  My jaw is going nuts ..and that nerve is affecting my upper back and so on ...  Bones even hurt.  Brain fog. Etc  I had eggs seemed fine.   Then my aid cooked a chicken stir fry in the microwave because my food order shorted a couple key items .   I was so hungry but I noticed light breading and some ingredients with SOY !!! Why are we suffering with soy ? This triggered a sensitivity to bananas and gluten-free yogurt it seems like it's a cycle that it goes on.  The tiniest amount of something gets me I'm guessing the tiny bit of breading that I took one tiny nibble of ...yikes ..im cringing from it .. Feels like my stomach is going to explode yet still very hungry 😔  How long does this last?! Thank you so much

This is an older article, but may be helpful.

I have had orthodontic work done. The 3M invisalign material was no problem. BUT my retainers are another matter. They seemed okay for a few months. Now, however, they cause a burning sensation on my tongue, gums and insides of my lips. The burning sensation is now spreading to my throat. I notice it when I breathe. This is annoying and interferes with my enjoyment of eating. I am visiting with my provider tomorrow. We'll see where this goes from here.

Exactly which blood tests were done? There are a few different ones and some docs don't do them all. Also, your results and reference ranges for each?
