Rice Cakes - The Little Ones

I know the big/regular size rice cakes are gluten free, but I was wondering if the mini rice cakes are gluten free. Not the ones that come in individual packages but the one Quaker calls Quakes rice snacks. I am finally getting hubby to come around to the idea of eating rice cakes so was wondering if the mini ones are safe too.

Thanks

My iPad app lists only these large ones:

Caramel corn

Light Salt

Unsalt

White cheddar

I think there have been discussions on here that the small ones are troublesome.

Just looking at the Quaker web site FAQs it says they can't say any are gluten-free.

Ahhhh....The joys of Celiac! :)

Sadly, I don't think they are safe. You can look at the ingredients online here (select the product and then click nutritional info): Open Original Shared Link

Just from glancing at a couple of them I saw Barley malt in one and tocopherols it two others. You would need to find out the source of the tocopherols.

BTW, have you seen the unsafe ingredient list: https://www.celiac.com/celiac-disease/forbidden-gluten-food-list-unsafe-ingredients-r182/

I printed it out and carry it with me when I go to the store.

Last time I checked Quaker said the large ones marked "Gluten Free" on the package were OK, but the small ones were NOT gluten free due to cross contamination or direct ingredients used.

I am pretty sure that they are not gluten free. In fact, I blame those little yummy gems (I loved the blueberry) for sending me into a tailspin that ended up with me in the hospital finally getting diagnosed with Celiac! LOL! So check your labels, but I'm pretty sure that they are called "multi-grain" cakes, and have all sorts of barley and wheat in them. My boyfriend used to call them "fart-cakes", because every time I ate them I got gassy. Of course, a couple weeks after falling in love with them I found out why I was so gassy! *blush*

Good luck, and be careful! I am finally feeling better after an accidental glutening 2 days ago! Tonight I am attempting my first "real meal" in 48 hours! Gluten stinks! ;)

"Conclusions: The urinary iodine level was significantly lower in women with postmenopausal osteoporosis, and iodine replacement may be important in preventing osteoporosis"  Body iodine status in women with postmenopausal osteoporosis Low iodine can cause thyroid problems, but Iodine deficiency will not show up in thyroid tests.  Iodine is important for healing, its job is to kill off defective and aging cells (Apoptosis). Skin, brain fog, nails, muscle tone all inproved when I started taking 600 mcg (RDA 150 - 1000 mcg) of Liquid Iodine drops. Some with dermatitis herpetiformis, Iodine exacerbates the rash.  I started at 1 drop (50 mcg) and worked up to 12 drops, but I don't have dermatitis herpetiformis.

Thank you so much for sharing your experience and I found myself giggling with happiness as I read how your body reached such spring! And I hope that your current journey is also successful!! Definitely starting the food diary! So many amazing advices. And it’s very scary. It really hits all our soft spots as well as our confidence system. Most doctors I went thought I was underage despite being in my late 20s. Right now I look like am I twelve, but is also this body that’s taking so much, so I might as well love it too! Going to make the necessary changes and stay in this path. Thank you again! 🫶

Thank you so much for the information and kind message! Reading this transformed how I’ve been viewing my efforts and progress. Guess there’s still a lot to celebrate and also heal 😌  Yes, I’ve been taking it! Just recently started taking a multivitamin supplement and separated vitamin D! I also took chewable Iron polymaltose for ferritin deficiency 2 months ago but was unable to absorb any of it.  Thank you again! Hearing such gentle words from the community makes my body and heart more patient and excited for the future.
