Possible To Be Sensitive To Only Certain Gluten Sources?

Hi all,

After about 2.5 months of constant migraines, fatigue, brain fog,and drowsiness, especially after eating, I'm thinking that I might have a food intolerance. I've eliminated gluten for the past 10 days, with some slip ups.

Overall I've been feeling more alert, and I do seem to get drowsy and feeling out of it a couple hours after accidentally eating wheat, with the drowsiness lasting quite some time and turning into a headache eventually.

I have a couple questions.

First, is it too soon to be feeling a little better? Cutting out sugar, which I tried first, did absolutely nothing as far as I could tell. I'm lactose intolerant, but cutting out dairy didn't do a whole lot other than helping my skin a little (I've had itchy acne along my jaw and on my back for over a year). Cutting out gluten seems to have helped with my skin and my other issues, but maybe I'm just crazy!

Second, is it possible to be more sensitive to some types of gluten than others? One of my slip ups was one beer, and I didn't get the horrible foggy feeling afterward. For my 2 other slip ups, I could barely get out of bed the next morning.

I'm glad you found something that helps your migraines. You're not crazy about your skin. Almost anything in your body can be affected by a gluten intolerance. Yes, you can feel better quickly if you stop eating a food you're intolerant to. Before you go gluten free for long, you need to decide if you want to get tested for celiac disease. You have to be eating a "normal" amount of gluten for the tests.

All gluten from wheat, rye, and barely is pretty comparably toxic. Some celiacs also react to oats. Beer does not always have a huge amount of gluten but it has enough to make a celiac sick. Reactions to slip-ups can be different from time to time, and also your immune system is still settling down so a small amount of gluten may have "slipped under the radar" so to speak.

Thanks, that all makes sense. I've got a doctors appointment this week and I'm going to discuss celiac screening.

      But M&M's contain milk, and would not be at all like a Tootsie Roll.

      I appreciate you validating me because medical is an issue and it's not ok at all they they do this. Some days I just want to call the news media and just call out these doctors especially when they are supposed to be specialist Downplaying when gluten-free when they should know gluten-free is false negative. Now dealing with other issues and still crickets for disability because I show no signs of celiac BECAUSE IM GLUTENFREE! Actively dealing with sibo and skin issues.Depression is the key because thats all they know, im depressed because medical has caused it because of my celiac and related issues. I should have never ever been employed as a bus driver.After 3 years still healing and ZERO income desperately trying to get better but no careteam for celiac other than stay away frim wheat! Now im having care because my head is affected either ms or meningioma in go in tomorrow again for more scans.I know im slowly dying and im looking like a disability chaser

      M&M Peanuts. About the same calories and sugar while M&M Peanuts have fiber, potassium, iron and protein that Tootsie Rolls ("We are currently producing more than 50 million Tootsie Rolls each day.") don't. Click the links to compare nutritional values.  Both are made with sugar, not high fructose corn syrup.  I use them as a gluten free substitute for a peanut butter sandwich.  Try her on grass fed, pasture fed milk. While I get heartburn at night from commercial dairy milk, I do not from 'grassmilk'.

      I see it everyday on my feeds.  They go out and buy gluten-free processed products and wonder why they can't heal their guts.  I don't think they take it as a serious immune disease. They pick up things off the internet which is so far out in left field.  Some days I would just like to scream.  So much better when we had support groups and being able to teach them properly. I just had an EMA blood test because I haven't had one since my Doctor moved away.  Got test results today, doctor ordered a D3 vitamin test.  Now you know what  type of doctors we have.  Now I will have to pay for this test because she just tested my D3 end of December, and still have no idea about my EMA.
