Hey gang... checked their Canadian website which implied they were gluten-free so ate them. Delicious. But would like to know if anyone actually verified with Quaker that they are gluten-free?

Thanks,

Elsinore

Careful with Quaker they might do rice cakes and stuff that are suppose to be gluten-free but there's alot of talk on the boards about cross-contaimination with them.

Usually if they're gluten free they will actually state this on the back of the packet now, like Walkers do with their crisps. Also though, to look out for are Quakers snack bags - sorry i cant remember the name at the moment - theyre a little like crisps, but low in fat, and made of maize i believe. Bags are black and you can get them in places like superdrug. Anyway, theyre really tasty, and say gluten free on the back. Kettle chips are also a great gluten-free bonus, and always say gluten-free on the back if they are :)

I do not trust Quaker...they have alot of cross contamination issues. I have not had a problem with many brands when it comes to cross contamination but this brand I have had problems with.

I have eaten Quaker Caramel Corn Ricecakes for over 5 years andnot once been glutened. The Cracker Jack rorn cakes are gluten free if you eat the "original" brand--the Butter Toffee Cracker Jack ricecake contains barley, so watch out for that one. Deb

They don't have gluten-free statements on mainstream products in Canada.

Interesting, when I suffered for a few months with ectopics I noticed that carbohydrates would cause indigestion and bloating in my stomach, then that would lead to my heart skipping beats, and I could feel it in my throat, it was very unsettling.  My last serious bout of this was after eating a Muller Rice Pudding for breakfast.   I happened to be wearing a 48 hour halter at the time and cardiology picked it up, but they weren't worried about what they saw. There was some British doctor who'd made some videos on the Vagus nerve that I remember watching at the time which made sense of what I was experiencing, there did seem to be some sort of connection.

I asked my cardiologist about stopping vitamins.  He said his tests account for all detectable vitamins from sources other than food.  I only need to stop them for a couple of days.  He has me keep records of meds and vitamins I've ingested over the past 10 days and prior and he does his calculations.

Reply to treats I try and eat to bring up the glucose. Sometime I get up 3 times a night and eat something. I don't think food is the issue. A lot of the food they say should help doesn't.  Many mornings my level is 59 and I feel sick, sometimes for hours. It has been recommended I go to an Endocrinologist.
