I was just dx with Celiacs 2 weeks ago and have been gluten-free since, have noticed a difference in symptoms, however I also have had a rash on and off for about a year, primar doc didn't have a clue what it was. Over the phone my gastro doc told me it was most liekly dh and the gluten-free diet would help. However if it is dh do I also need to make sure my shampo, conditioner, face wash, makeup, and etc are gluten-free? Does anyone have a good list of brands that are gluten-free that can be bought in a store instead of online? thanks!

Yes it is a good idea to make sure that your toiletries are gluten-free. Garneir, Dove and Suave will clearly list gluten ingredients. If you like organic products Giovanni clearly lists and Burts Bees. There are of course others but those are the ones that come to my mind first off.

And do remember that you'll need to avoid iodine for a while, as well, since it takes both gluten and iodine for many people to break out in DH. Since iodine can be high in dairy products, you may consider changing to organic dairy to see if doing so helps get rid of the DH.

I have definitely noticed that if I don't use gluten-free shampoo I do end up paying for it. It may be coincidence but I've taken every opportunity to avoid anything with gluten from crossing the door into the house.

Hi, I'm new, thank you for accepting me and I apologize if this has been asked before.  I didn't realize till recently that Celiac disease affects your teeth and gums, I have always had weak teeth and bad gums. And for going on 3 months now, I have been having such severe, throbbing, burning pain in my mouth, teeth and tongue. I have spent most of the time curled up in a ball, sobbing with ice packs on my face. It's only the left side. I have been treated for sinus infections and thrush. I had a canker sore on the roof of my mouth, my tongue was coated and I had the crusty stuff in the corners of my mouth. No one knows what it is, or how to cure it. Anyone else have this?

Yes, @trents is right, ascorbic acid can be irritating.  Do you take it with food? Do you take other supplements or vitamins? Do you eat processed meats?   Is your diet high in carbohydrates?

Be careful with C supplementation. It's ascorbic "acid". Too much can cause stomach and gut irritation.
