Some Endo Results

Well, I had my test done yesterday. He took several biopsies of my stomach and intestine for celiac disease and H.Pylori.

What he noticed with the naked eye was:

Antral Gastritis-mild AND

Schatzki's Ring, so he dialated my esophagus.

He also said I had mild patch erethyma in the antrum.

I was too out of it to ask questions and he told my hubby all was fine?

How could all be fine? What is gastritis? What is erethmya?

I just woke up but I'm going to see if my dr or his nurse will call me back.

I have to call for biopsy results in one week, meanwhile I won't see him again until June 29.

Any thoughts on what these are?

I'm still weak today..they had to give me double the demerol, I don't know why.

I get weak and sick when I exert myself.

Have a bit of a sore throat...

I got cool pictures of everything to keep...now I can take the pictures of my vocal cords to my ENT to see why I can't sing.

I'm going to the regular dr. today to find out why I get so shaky and I can always hear my own heartbeat-it's weird. Also feels like I can't breathe....

I'm not sure what all that means, but are you sure they said erethyma or arhythmia, because arhythmia (dont know how to spell it) is an abnormality with then rhythm of the heart. If he siad all was fine then I doubt there was anything serious, unless they just ment that the prosedure went well?

I just had a biopsy done last week and the Dr. told me I had gastritis as well. I now take a Prevacid OTC each day. I have never had acid reflux or heartburn problems, so it was news to me.

I asked my dr. today; not the GI doc, but my regular dr. He said erethyma is simply redness, like maybe because of all of the acid my stomach was irritated.

He took blood to test my thyroid, so we'll see what happens. I'm feeling a bit better now.

Gastritis- inflammation of the stomach

Antral gastritis- gastritis affecting the lower part of the stomach (the antrum)

Often caused by the bacterium- H pylori.

Erythema is a red appearance of the stomach lining, usually indicating gastritis.

Schatzki ring is a narrowing of the lower gullet just above a hiatus hernia which can cause a sensation of food sticking on the way down.

Hope this clarifies.

I work for a GI group (not a nurse or a doctor so this is not medical advice) and all those things are very common and not any cause for you to worry. They may give you an acid blocker or suppressor if they think the gastritis is causing you pain. You also might have to have the Schatzki's ring dilated from time to time if you notice that you have any difficulty swallowing or food getting stuck.

Some thoughts on the shakiness is low blood sugar. You also might want to see if your magnesium is low. Low magnesium can cause your heart to beat irregularly or pound (which can also make you feel short of breath).

      Yes, I, too, have osteoporosis from years of malabsorption, too.  Thiamine and magnesium are what keep the calcium in place in the bones.  If one is low in magnesium, boron, selenium, zinc, copper, and other trace minerals, ones bone heath can suffer.  We need more than just calcium and Vitamin D for strong bones.  Riboflavin B 2, Folate B 9 and Pyridoxine B 6 also contribute to bone formation and strength.   Have you had your thyroid checked?  The thyroid is important to bone health as well.  The thyroid uses lots of thiamine, so a poorly functioning thyroid will affect bone heath.

      Calcium levels as measured in the blood can be quite deceiving as the body will rob calcium from the bones to meet demands for it by other bodily functions. Also, supplementing with calcium can be counterproductive as it tends to raise gut pH and decrease absorption. More often than not, the problem is poor absorption to begin with rather than deficiency of intake amounts in the diet. Calcium needs an acidic environment to be absorbed. This is why so many people on PPIs develop osteoporosis. The PPIs raise gut pH. And some people have high gut PH for other reasons. Low pH equates to a more acidic environment whereas high pH equates to a more basic (less acidic) environment.

      Kind thanks for all this valuable information! Since my Folate was/is low and also my Calcium, there IS a chance I am low in B vitamins... My doctor only measured the first two, oh and Zinc as I has twisted her arm and guess what, that was mega low too. So who knows, until I get myself tested properly, what else I am deficient in... I did a hair mineral test recently and it said to avoid All sources of Calcium. But this is confusing for me as my Ca is so low and I have osteoporosis because of this. It is my Adjusted Ca that is on the higher side and shouldn't be. So am not sure why the mineral test showed high Ca (well, it was medium in the test but relative to my lowish Magnesium, also via hair sample, it was high I was told). But anyway, thanks again for the VitB download, I will look into this most certainly!

      Hello good afternoon, I was wondering if anyone has ever brought their anti-allergy pills? I have been wanting to use their Cetirizine HCI 10mg. They are called HealthA2Z and distributed by Allegiant Health.I’m also Asthmatic and these allergies are terrible for me but I also want to be sure they don’t have any sort of gluten compound.    I have tried calling them but to no avail. Has anyone ever used them? If so, did you had any problems or no problems at all?    thank you
