Sweating One Minute, And Freezing The Next....

Hello Friends!

I don't know if this is Celiac related... but lately, every morning, like clockwork, I get out of the shower and begin getting dressed, and my body goes all whacky on me!?!? I start sweating for no good reason. So I'll turn on our large standing fan to cool off and within a few minutes, I'll still be sweating, but then I'm freezing cold. I always have to lie down and relax for a while, and it seems to pass after about a half hour or so...It's so weird! It's almost like when you have a fever...you know? Or when a fever "breaks" as my Mom used to say.... for all I know I'm in early menopause at 35...my period is 3 weeks late and I have had my tubes ties for 12 years...also weird. LOL!

I just thought I would throw it out there and see if anyone has heard of this before. I feel like my internal temp gauge is broken. I am so thankful this is happening over the summer, while I am not in school. (I'm a teacher.) But I'm really worried if this continues, because I don't want to be standing in front of my first period class of teenagers sweating like a pig and feeling like crap every morning! I am seeing my regular doctor tomorrow, and I'm planning on asking him, but sometimes I think he just blows me off because he doesn't know the answer and/or thinks I'm a hypochondriac! I'm going tomorrow to actually tell him how great I'm feeling, in general, since going gluten free, and to ask for a few of my medication to be lowered and or discontinued. But now I have this weird monkey wrench in my otherwise miraculous recovery... :(

Thanks for reading ladies and gents!

I went through that a lot about 6 months into the gluten-free diet and then it lessened a bit. It's still happens but now and then. I never figured it out. Maybe someone else will have more insight. I agree it's super uncomfortable and inconvenient.

edited to add: LauraBeth brings up a good point about hormones. I too figured my hormones were out of whack and had them tested twice. Totally normal.

I am exactly the same way, and I'm only 23 so I know it's not menopause! Could be hormonal though. I wonder if it's related to gluten at all.

It's summertime and warm to start with. I wonder if your shower is too warm and you are just overheating yourself a little. Have you tried a cooler shower?

You know what's funny....my bf said the same thing! He said, "try a cooler shower" and "try to time it so if you have to lay down for a half hour in the AM, you can." I used his advice this AM, and it worked. Sure enough, I had the weird sweating thing again, but I just plopped myself on the bed and chilled until it was time to go. I stopped sweating and left the house feeling confident!

Moral of the story, I have no idea what is happening, and neither does my doctor. He is thinking it might be one of the meds I'm on, so he is changing my dose, but other than that he had no ideas. I'll either wait it out or overcome it! Thanks for all the advice!

I have not made my own juices but have made my own granola copycat recipe from Trader Joes Turmeric ginger granola. Have you made your own juices? blending vs cold pressed what is better?

Sadly, I just now see the extremely tiny and hard to read wording on the label from some I got from nuts.com last year and it's below the certified gluten free sign which is more obvious. Another concern is that there's no expiration date to be found on any of the packages I have gotten.. It's confusing because they claim these are certified gluten free which Is why I got them due to having celiac. Looks like Tierra Farm has the lesser of the allergens, specifically wheat, so I will have to give them a try. Thanks

After many years of running Celiac.com, one thing I've noticed is that I rarely hear about support groups that organize gluten-free picnics. It seem like this would be a great way to get celiacs together. I've attended various conferences, meetings, and events over the years, but strangely, no gluten-free picnics.
