Newly Doagnosed And Have A Question

Hello everyone.....

I am brand new to this and I am hoping that there is someone out there that can help answer a question for me. My son is 13 years old and newly diagnosed with Celiac Disease. The gluten free diet was amazing. His symptoms disappeared after just 6 days being gluten free. He has NEVER been a "burper". His entire life I think I can count on one hand the number of times I have ever heard him burp out loud for someone else to hear. Since starting the gluten free diet his symptoms have disappeared as far as the joint pain and such but now he burps after every meal. It just comes rolling out of him and he doesn't even feel it coming ! Has anyone else experienced anything like this ? They say he has most likely had celiac disease his entire life but sadly enough it took all of this time to just figure it out. Just wondering if anyone has any input ?

Is he still eating dairy? Some of us are dairy intolerant for the first while, until we heal up. Might be causing the issue?

I'm sure there are many more possibilities that others here can suggest. :) My daughter was 11 when she was diagnosed, but we skipped the burping. Does it hurt him at all? Acidic or anything like that? Have they tested him for H. Pylori bacteria in the gut? That might be an issue too, actually, come to think of it. Very common with Celiacs, too.

I had that For a long time actually. In fact, I was so gassy in my stomach at times food wouldn't stay down but came right back up after just a minute. Your son has a new diet, and his system has bacteria that feed off certain nutrients and have to balance out. After a while if he is strictly gluten free he should get better. But it has to be a very strict gluten-free, no cheating, no cross contamination etc. There are many other foods that can also cause problems for us though, including soy, dairy, corn etc etc etc. It might help to limit sugary drinks etc for a while, and to try a dairy free probiotic once in a while. Eating fewer meals with more proteins and veggies than carbs may help too.

      Welcome to the forum, @yellowstone! The most common ones seem to be dairy (casein), oats, eggs, soy and corn. "Formed" meat products (because of the "meat glue" used to hold their shape) is a problem for some. But it can be almost anything on an individual basis as your sensitivity to rice proves, since rice is uncommonly a "cross reactor" for celiacs. Some celiacs seem to not do well with any cereal grains.

      What foods can trigger a response in people with gluten sensitivity? I've read that there are foods that, although they don't contain gluten, can cause problems for people with gluten sensitivity because they contain proteins similar to gluten that trigger a response in the body. I've seen that other cereals are included: corn, rice... also chicken, casein. I would like to know what other foods can cause this reaction, and if you have more information on the subject, I would like to know about it. Right now, I react very badly to rice and corn. Thank you.

      Shingles is dormant and related to chicken pox when one has had in the past.Shingles comes out when stress is heightened.I had my 3rd Shingles in 2023.
