Grocers Allergen Labeling

I recently moved to Pennsylvania and discovered this glorious grocery store called "Wegmans". Wegmans has thier own labeling system for all of "Wegmans food brand" items found in the store. There is a key (usually found in the upper left hand corner of the packaging that will list as follows...

G for a Gluten Free item

L for Lactose Free

LS for Low Sodium

V for Vegan

HF for High Fiber

etc.

This is such a great find in a supermarket. For those of us with the disease, or any diet restrictions for that matter, this store is a gem. It's so nice not to have to take five minutes on each item we feel like buying to try to decipher the label or wonder if the manufacturer has made any recipe changes that are going to make us sick. We move around from state to state frequently so I'm totally petrified that I'm going to have to give up this welcome twist on food shopping. Anyone out there have any ideas on how to get other supermarkets, food distributors, etc to pick up on this?

Yea I love Wegmans also. I believe they have a celiac in the family that founded the store. I have never had a CC issue with them as they are very careful about what they label as gluten-free. They even recognize that some of us react to distilled gluten so they take that into account with stuff like BBQ sauce and pickles.

I am looking to relocate out of the highest taxed state in the country before to long and will make sure whereever I move there is a Wegmans near by.

As to how to get other stores to be as careful and to label, well I don't have an answer for that. I'd just be happy if other companies would be required to use the 'processed in the same plant as ......'

Hi everyone  This has been a crazy year so far... How many people actually get entire sensory overload from gluten or something similar ?  My jaw is going nuts ..and that nerve is affecting my upper back and so on ...  Bones even hurt.  Brain fog. Etc  I had eggs seemed fine.   Then my aid cooked a chicken stir fry in the microwave because my food order shorted a couple key items .   I was so hungry but I noticed light breading and some ingredients with SOY !!! Why are we suffering with soy ? This triggered a sensitivity to bananas and gluten-free yogurt it seems like it's a cycle that it goes on.  The tiniest amount of something gets me I'm guessing the tiny bit of breading that I took one tiny nibble of ...yikes ..im cringing from it .. Feels like my stomach is going to explode yet still very hungry 😔  How long does this last?! Thank you so much

I have had orthodontic work done. The 3M invisalign material was no problem. BUT my retainers are another matter. They seemed okay for a few months. Now, however, they cause a burning sensation on my tongue, gums and insides of my lips. The burning sensation is now spreading to my throat. I notice it when I breathe. This is annoying and interferes with my enjoyment of eating. I am visiting with my provider tomorrow. We'll see where this goes from here.

Exactly which blood tests were done? There are a few different ones and some docs don't do them all. Also, your results and reference ranges for each?
