i have eczema/hives as a result of a wheat sensitivity.

my derm gave me two scripts. one called, Open Original Shared Link and the other, Open Original Shared Link.

(One was greasier and for nighttime and the other for daytime.)

Would any of these help my skin condition get better faster? I am wheat-free but this is taking some time!! UGH!

are you 100% gluten free? or only wheat free?

years ago, i was lucky enough when going on atkins for my HORRIFIC excema to go away. i continued to eat small amounts of gluten in soy sauce or whatever. i would have wheat maybe once a month, would get itchy, but no excema. but that was just my body at the time. our immunological reactions change. im on my 5th month 100% gluten free now, and my DH is JUST NOW getting better.

you may need to go 100% gluten free.. for it to finally go away IMHO

Yes, our experience has been like the previous poster's. I went gluten-free first, but my son is the one with eczema. As I started to reduce the gluten in our home, his eczema went down a notch accordingly. When he was eating gluten-free at home but gluten out of the house, it went down another notch but not completely gone and when he was eating gluten only at the occasional party or restaurant he still had a little, It took 100% gluten-free to make it go away and stay away completely. He doesn't have an official celiac disease DX. At some point in time he tested pos. for wheat allergy, both blood and skin.

Be aware that all mainstream oats are significantly contaminated with wheat. Most products that contain oats are not safe. Only certified gluten-free oats are ok for us and gluten-free products that use only certified gluten-free oats are OK.

We have also discovered through allergy testing and dietary elimination and re-introduction that beans can cause his eczema to return(or were those beans CC'd with wheat?).

Sorry I can't help with the question about the meds. :( We never tried them with kiddo. But I encourage you to keep looking for answers. Something has to be causing it.

You have a great derm! Hang onto him and don't let go. :) When I asked mine what could be causing my horrible eczema, his reply was, "Anything, who knows." After years of Rx creams and Pred, I tried going gluten-free just to see what would happen. To my complete surprise, my skin was clear in three days.

I don't know about the meds you were prescribed but hopefully giving up all wheat and gluten will make them unnecessary. I still get flare-ups of little discoid eczema patches and possibly DH blisters but not enough to warrant Rx meds . . . I keep them under control with Cera Ve and Vaseline.

You also might want to avoid iodized salt and other iodine-containing foods. I think that's what causes most of my skin problems now.

I looked further into Thiamax Vitamin B1 by objective nutrients and read all the great reviews. I think I will give this a try. I noticed only possible side affect is possibly the first week so body adjusts. Life Extensions carries Benfotiamine with Thiamine and the mega one you mentioned. Not sure if both in one is better or seperate. some reviews state a laxative affect as side affect. SHould I take with my super B complex or just these 2 and multivitamin? I will do further research but I appreciate the wonderful explanation you provided on Thiamine.

There are other Celiac genes. HLA DQ 2 and HLA DQ 8 show up in people from Northern European descent.   People of Mediterranean descent have HLA DQ 7.  People of Asian descent have HLA DQ 9.   There's other Indigenous populations that have other HLA genes that code for Celiac disease.   Are you still having symptoms?   What do you include in your diet?  Are you vegetarian? Are you taking any prescription medication?  Omeprazole?  Metformin?   Do you have anemia?  Thyroid problems? Are you taking any vitamins or herbal supplements?

There are eight essential B vitamins.  They are all water soluble.  Any excess of B vitamins is easily excreted by the kidneys.   Thiamine is Vitamin B 1.  Thiamine is safe and nontoxic even in high doses.  Benfotiamine and TTFD are forms of Thiamine that the body can utilize very easily.   The form of Thiamine in the supplements you mentioned is Thiamine Mononitrate, a form that the body does not absorb well and does not utilize well.  Only about thirty percent of the amount on the label is actually absorbed in the small intestine.  Less than that can actually be used by the body.  Manufacturers add thiamine mononitrate to their products because it's cheap and shelf-stable.  Thiamine and other B vitamins break down when exposed to light and heat and over time.  Thiamine Mononitrate is a form that does not break down over time sitting on a shelf waiting for someone to buy them.  What makes Thiamine Mononitrate shelf stable makes it difficult for the body to turn into a useable form.  In fact, it takes more thiamine to turn it into a useable form.   Gastrointestinal Beriberi is a localized shortage of Thiamine in the gastrointestinal tract.  High carbohydrate meals can result in gastrointestinal symptoms of Gastric Beriberi.  Fiber is a type of carbohydrate.  So, high fiber/carbohydrate snacks could trigger Gastric Beriberi.   Since blood tests for Thiamine and other B vitamins are so inaccurate, the World Health Organization recommends trying Thiamine and looking for health improvement because it's safe and nontoxic.

Thanks very interesting I have to see if I should take these 2 vitamins along with my multi and super Vit B complex or if its too much or would hurt me. I don't have any other health issues but would love to see if this improves anything especially to feel stronger build muscle.
