Update On My 2 Year Olds Scope/biopsy

I am so wrapped up in daily life I forgot to post! He finally got to have the proceedure done on the 9th and nothing was found. OK. I have mixed feelings about this, one of relief that there wasn't any damage found with the NAKED eye and one of frustration because he still has suspicious bowel movements. Now, the biopsy results won't be back until the end of this week so a few more days we are suppose to wait. Gaah!

If nothing else, it seems we will be back at the allergist to see if there are other allergies that have been overlooked or newly developed. Like the egg one that came up pos. on the RAST test that I think I'd like to be confirmed with the scratch test. He doesn't react but I know he may at some later date. I'm just tired of taking things away from him.

So nothing really new to report except that all seems normal and I will update when we get biopsy results.

I was wondering what had happened because I haven't seen you posting lately. Did you ever do stool testing? I can't remember. I did remember about the foul smelling BMs. My son has been having them and I took samples this morning to the lab. So we shall see.

Since you have the biopsy done, you can start him on gluten free.

They did do stool samples and nothing came of them; all was normal. Blood was all normal except an egg allergy and low Vit. D levels. Now the scope looks normal and we are waiting on the biopsy to look closer. If that is normal I am assuming it's just how his body reacts to his allergens? I don't know.

He's back to a gluten-free diet now because he is better on than off.

I've used magnesium taurinate and magnesium taurate vitamins.  Didn't notice much of a difference when I used them.

More great tips, and a good excuse to shop at M&S and also buy more iced buns!   I wish we had an ASDA near us, as the few times we've been to one their gluten-free pasta range seemed very reasonably priced compared to other shops.  Thanks so much, @Russ H.

I hope you are on the mend soon. About 1 in 5 people who contracted chicken pox as a child go on to develop shingles in later life - it is not uncommon. There are 5 known members of the herpes virus family including chicken pox that commonly infect humans, and they all cause lifelong infections. The exact cause of viral reactivation as in the case of shingles or cold sores is not well understood, but stress, sunburn and radiotherapy treatment are known triggers. Some of the herpes viruses are implicated in triggering autoimmune diseases: Epstein-Barr virus is suspected of triggering multiple sclerosis and lupus, and there is a case where it is suspected of triggering coeliac disease. As to whether coeliac disease can increase the likelihood of viral reactivation, there have been several cohort studies including a large one in Sweden suggesting that coeliac disease is associated with a moderate increase in the likelihood of developing shingles in people over the age of 50. US 2024 - Increased Risk of Herpes Zoster Infection in Patients with Celiac Disease 50 Years Old and Older Sweden 2018 - Increased risk of herpes zoster in patients with coeliac disease - nationwide cohort study
