Ski Season

All right anyday now, you know you will be up my way for skiing people. After all, everyone knows, skiing anywhere but Utah is blasphemy. Okay so maybe I am exaggerating. But anyway, for those of you ever planning on coming up my way skiing, we should all do a gluten free exchange or something. A meeting at a restaurant, book someplace and have a potluck or something... Though I am thinking the former, just because everyone probably will be out at different times.

Just a thought though... Anyone interested?

I will be there in March because Tahoe and SLC area are the only places to ski. We are not sure where we will ski, so we haven't figured out where we will stay. May do a few days in Eden ? by Powder Mtn and a few days in Sandy area or Park City. The boys have to agree on where they want to ski. I just follow along.

*pulls out planbook* Karen in March sometime....

Ooh all those places are fun.... Lemme know where you end up and I will pull up a list of good places around there.... (Believe me I am trying nearly every gluten-free place I see and testing it...)

And yes I really did right that in my planner... LOL

March 13 - 20 Do you ski? It surprises me the people that even work at ski resorts and don't ski/board.

Last time I skied.... probably about 10 years ago... Yes I have lived by the ski resorts for the past six years and never once skied, did more skiing out here when I lived in wash DC than I do now... But when I did ski I was told I was all right at it...

i just now came across this thread :)

I have lived in Utah or Idaho my whole life, and have NEVER gone skiing...lol (grew up in Utah, have lived in Idaho 10 years now). could never afford to.

Eden is a beautiful area (so is Park City...) but i don't think I've ever been to Eden in the winter... i can only imagine how pretty it is this time of year :)

if i'm ever back in Utah to visit family or anything, i'd love to meet up w/ people, if I'm able to. (y'all know how crazy & exhausting it gets when you have to try to visit a bunch of family. Esp when it involves a 350 mile drive to/ from, & you're the driver).

now if anyone wants to come skiing up here in Idaho... :)

I'm hoping I can get out skiing this year. With the breastfeeding baby, it's more challenging. Though, I have to admit, if I'm going out of state, I'm heading to Whistler, not Utah. :) (It's also much closer. ;) )

They may want to also eliminate other possible causes for your symptoms/issues and are doing additional tests.  Here is info about blood tests for celiac disease--if positive an endoscopy where biopsies of your intestinal villi are taken to confirm is the typical follow up.

In the Europe the new protocol for making a celiac disease diagnosis in children is if their tTg-IgA (tissue transglutaminase IgA) levels are 10 times or above the positive level for celiac disease--and you are above that level. According to the latest research, if the blood test results are at certain high levels that range between 5-10 times the reference range for a positive celiac disease diagnosis, it may not be necessary to confirm the results using an endoscopy/biopsy: Blood Test Alone Can Diagnose Celiac Disease in Most Children and Adults TGA-IgA at or Above Five Times Normal Limit in Kids Indicates Celiac Disease in Nearly All Cases No More Biopsies to Diagnose Celiac Disease in Children! May I ask why you've had so many past tTg-IgA tests done, and many of them seem to have been done 3 times during short time intervals?

@JettaGirl, "Coeliac" is the British spelling of "celiac". Same disease.

This may sound ridiculous but is this supposed to say Celiacs? I looked up Coeliacs because you never know, there’s a lot of diseases related to a disease that they come up with similar names for. It’s probably meant to say Celiacs but I just wanted to confirm.

I was told it was to see how much damage has been caused. But just told CT with contrast not any other name for it.
