I Am In Love With The Breadman!

We bought a Breadman bread machine yesterday and made a loaf using gluten-free Pantry favorite sandwich bread mix. WOW! That's good stuff. DD2 (almost 2 yrs), who is our only gluten intolerant one, loved the bread......she hates bread :) We are thrilled to say the least! I, of course, want to make bread with herbs and cheeses but I don't want to spoil a good thing with her :)

What breads are good for little ones? I would prefer to make my own and it would be nice to save a little money if this love for bread lasts.

I went to Barnes & Noble and found an entire gluten-free cookbook section, including many bread/bread machine recipe books. I'm just starting to try some out so I can't tell you which ones are good yet, but it might be a good idea to check out the books!

That is great to hear! I'm going to hopefully buy a Breadman for a Christmas present to myself and am anxious to try it out on my just about two-year-old as well. My friend also recommended the Gluten-Free Pantry sandwich bread, which I tried making in the oven... first attempt didn't go so well.

Did the bread bake well using the standard gluten-free setting, or did you have to program it further?

There are lots of bread recipes in the baking and cooking section of the forum. Take a look or search on bread in the recipe section. You'll find a lot! :D

Welcome to the forum, @yellowstone! The most common ones seem to be dairy (casein), oats, eggs, soy and corn. "Formed" meat products (because of the "meat glue" used to hold their shape) is a problem for some. But it can be almost anything on an individual basis as your sensitivity to rice proves, since rice is uncommonly a "cross reactor" for celiacs. Some celiacs seem to not do well with any cereal grains.

What foods can trigger a response in people with gluten sensitivity? I've read that there are foods that, although they don't contain gluten, can cause problems for people with gluten sensitivity because they contain proteins similar to gluten that trigger a response in the body. I've seen that other cereals are included: corn, rice... also chicken, casein. I would like to know what other foods can cause this reaction, and if you have more information on the subject, I would like to know about it. Right now, I react very badly to rice and corn. Thank you.
