Ok I need your help. If you had ONE article to show your husband what would you recommend?

Something like- so your wife has just been diagnosed with celiac ( and possibly your child later)

Maybe something with a little funny, not to much medical terminology, but maybe stressing the importance of all of this!!! Maybe talking about a gluten free kitchen, no he does not have to eat gluten free but he doesn't seem to understand contamination.

My hubby doesn't seem to think this is that big a deal.

I need sort of a jump start to help with all the changes coming his way!!

What would you suggest?

the celiac disease foundation has created printable brochures. they are brief and informative. go to this link, Open Original Shared Link and look on the right side under the heading "additional information". hope this helps. good luck!

How about 'gluten-free for dummies'? we all had alot of questions so i just left it *around*

edited to say: oops. that is not an article. it's a book (sorry)(it was very helpful, though!) good luck!

I'm in the same situation so I don't have any advice. I just wanted to let you know that you are not alone. Although I will say that my husband is finally starting to understand the CC issue since he glutened me last night and saw the misery I was in...not that I am suggesting that you gluten yourself :P Educating my hubby was just a benefit from the pain :)

      They may want to also eliminate other possible causes for your symptoms/issues and are doing additional tests.  Here is info about blood tests for celiac disease--if positive an endoscopy where biopsies of your intestinal villi are taken to confirm is the typical follow up.

      In the Europe the new protocol for making a celiac disease diagnosis in children is if their tTg-IgA (tissue transglutaminase IgA) levels are 10 times or above the positive level for celiac disease--and you are above that level. According to the latest research, if the blood test results are at certain high levels that range between 5-10 times the reference range for a positive celiac disease diagnosis, it may not be necessary to confirm the results using an endoscopy/biopsy: Blood Test Alone Can Diagnose Celiac Disease in Most Children and Adults TGA-IgA at or Above Five Times Normal Limit in Kids Indicates Celiac Disease in Nearly All Cases No More Biopsies to Diagnose Celiac Disease in Children! May I ask why you've had so many past tTg-IgA tests done, and many of them seem to have been done 3 times during short time intervals?

      This may sound ridiculous but is this supposed to say Celiacs? I looked up Coeliacs because you never know, there’s a lot of diseases related to a disease that they come up with similar names for. It’s probably meant to say Celiacs but I just wanted to confirm.

      I was told it was to see how much damage has been caused. But just told CT with contrast not any other name for it.
