Mucus In Stool?

Just wondering if having mucus in your stool is common for celiac disease? I've tried doing a search and everything mentions ulcerative colitis and chrohn's but I don't see any mention of celiac disease. I know it's gluten related because I didn't have it before doing this gluten challenge but, can gluten cause ulcerative colitis and chron's also? All my researching has been on celiac so I don't know much about the other conditions. Thanks!

wow... someone finally went there... all this time ive been on here and we're all talkin about our BMs... & ive always been too embarrassed and grossed out to bring this one up.

yes- ive experienced this- off & on the last 8 years or so... i REALLY really hope it doesnt have to be colitis or crohns... because i really started having it on a regular basis in the 2 years between my blood panels & colonoscopy.... and my self diagnosis/going gluten free. so im not sure if i had anything serious. my colonoscopy in 2008 was clear... but i really had the mucous on a regular basis between 2008 & 2010... even when i was only having SMALL amounts of gluten & not too much cramping or pain. i always assumed that it was lymphatic material from the small intestine?? cause cant celiac cause lymphocyte problems in the SI?

it went away completely after i went gluten-free for good. there were actually 2 times in the last 6 months where i thought i was having it again, and it scared the crap out of me- but i realized that the day before i had had TOO MUCH sticky hard cheese- and it had not absorbed at all.

sorry- so much TMI :huh:

so, again, i cant tell u exactly what the cause of it was, or diagnosis, but it did go away when i went gluten free.

I have had this as well. Mine had been on and off for years, but did get really bad in the last six months.(sometimes that's all that came out-TMI) I have only been gluten free for about 6 weeks-but I haven't had it since...So in my case I am sure it was from gluten!

I guess dealing with my girl's digestive problems for the last 3 years has gotten me pretty loose about talking about this stuff :P

I'm pretty sure mine is related to gluten since I didn't have it when I was gluten free and now I'm having it on my gluten loaded diet. It just kinda worried me when I googled it and everything that came up had to do with the other two conditions.

I'll look into the lymphatic problem...

I have that too where sometimes that's all that comes out. It's kinda gross!

      This treatment looks promising. Its aim is to provoke immune tolerance of gluten, possibly curing the disease. It passed the phase 2 trial with flying colours, and I came across a post on Reddit by one of the study volunteers.       Hi everyone  This has been a crazy year so far... How many people actually get entire sensory overload from gluten or something similar ?  My jaw is going nuts ..and that nerve is affecting my upper back and so on ...  Bones even hurt.  Brain fog. Etc  I had eggs seemed fine.   Then my aid cooked a chicken stir fry in the microwave because my food order shorted a couple key items .   I was so hungry but I noticed light breading and some ingredients with SOY !!! Why are we suffering with soy ? This triggered a sensitivity to bananas and gluten-free yogurt it seems like it's a cycle that it goes on.  The tiniest amount of something gets me I'm guessing the tiny bit of breading that I took one tiny nibble of ...yikes ..im cringing from it .. Feels like my stomach is going to explode yet still very hungry 😔  How long does this last?! Thank you so much

      I have had orthodontic work done. The 3M invisalign material was no problem. BUT my retainers are another matter. They seemed okay for a few months. Now, however, they cause a burning sensation on my tongue, gums and insides of my lips. The burning sensation is now spreading to my throat. I notice it when I breathe. This is annoying and interferes with my enjoyment of eating. I am visiting with my provider tomorrow. We'll see where this goes from here.
