Chemical Sensitivities

Hi,

I don't know if I have celiac disease yet (I'm taking Enterolab tests). I seem to have DH on my arms which would suggest Celiac but I'm also pretty sure I have Candida as well.

My question is this: Does anyone with celiac disease have very bad chemical sensitivities? I've had this problem for awhile now and I know its quite common with Candida but what about celiac disease? All of my symptoms can fall into either catagory except this one. I'm not finding too much info about celiac disease and chemical sensitivity. I'm just trying to figure out which problem I have...or if I have both celiac disease & Candida. The test results will definately help and I've taken tests for Candida as well but both test results are about 3 weeks away...which seems like a lifetime to me right now.

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated :)

Thanks,

-Rachel

Yes, you can be sensitive to chemicals. To a point though I think everyone is senstive to those foreign substances.

Anyway, there is a very good possibility you have both. Symptoms can be similar in candida and celiac but they are highly linked. I had both. Let us know how the results turn out.

I have multiple chemical sensitivity, which is also associated with fibromyalgia as well. I don't know what the connection is, but it can be frustrating! Our bodies just can't handle those toxic chemicals.

I reached a point where I could no longer even be active in my local church because I reacted to all the different chemicals on bodies and in the cleaning stuff. It was awful. My family members had to go on the back porch to put on their deodorant! Since going gluten-free, it has gotten much better. We are back to putting on our deodorant in the bathroom where you are supposed to...but keep that door closed and the vent turned on for a while!

Eating out in general is full of risks, but this article may help:

This kind of question is always difficult to give a definitive answer to because of so many variables. One such variable is the sensitivity of the individual celiac to small amounts of gluten cross contamination. An amount that causes a reaction in one celiac many not in another, or at least not be discernable which, of course, does not exactly equate to being "safe".

I don't live in the US, but based on this thread, I wouldn't risk it:   https://www.reddit.com/r/glutenfree/comments/1n2ehw8/cracker_barrel/   This app is helpful: https://www.findmeglutenfree.com/

I see that Cracker Barrel restaurants have a gluten free menu (not all locations, but one confirmed that they do). I was wondering if it is safe for my 5 year old son with celiac disease?
