Blood Test For Celiac Disease

My niece is suffering from many of the symptoms I have had over the years. I was diagnosed with Celiac disease about 9 months ago and am doing much better on a gluten free diet. My doctor first did a blood test which was positive then referred me to a GI doc who did a biopsy of the upper colon which was also positive. My niece wants to have the blood test but I can't find the info for her to request from her doctor. I have read on the forum that the test has a specific name and it is hard to find a doctor who will order it. Does anyone know the name of the blood test? Thanks for any info. :D

Have her take this to the doc. She should highlight the name of the test because most doc don't have time to read the whole thing. Also, look around on that website. They have some good info.

My daughter was recently diagnosed. I just asked our local GP surgery for me and my hubby to be tested for Coeliac. I thought that that is all you ask for???

      What foods can trigger a response in people with gluten sensitivity? I've read that there are foods that, although they don't contain gluten, can cause problems for people with gluten sensitivity because they contain proteins similar to gluten that trigger a response in the body. I've seen that other cereals are included: corn, rice... also chicken, casein. I would like to know what other foods can cause this reaction, and if you have more information on the subject, I would like to know about it. Right now, I react very badly to rice and corn. Thank you.

      Shingles is dormant and related to chicken pox when one has had in the past.Shingles comes out when stress is heightened.I had my 3rd Shingles in 2023.

      Oats naturally contain a protein called avenin, which is similar to the gluten proteins found in wheat, barley, and rye. While avenin is generally considered safe for most people with celiac disease, some individuals, around 5-10% of celiacs, may also have sensitivity to avenin, leading to symptoms similar to gluten exposure. You may fall into this category, and eliminating them is the best way to figure this out. Some people substitute gluten-free quinoa flakes for oats if they want a hot cereal substitute.
