hello, I'm new to this forum and relatively new to ceoliac. I was diagnosed by endoscopy in April, so just working out whats what and trying to get through the minefield. Hopefully this forum will help guide me through it!

Hi,

I'm in not so sunny Cambridgeshire (UK). I'm relatively new here too. My daughter was diagnosed with celiac disease a few weeks ago and I was tested last week. I'm sure I have it too with all my symptoms and family history.

Hope you enjoy it here as much as I am. Lots of great, helpful people :D

You're lucky if it's sunny Devon - raining all day here in Lanark. I was diagnosed on 6th May and have found this forum to be a godsend. Have you also joined coeliac uk?

Hi, actually rainy and cloudy here all day too, I just like to make out its always sunny!!! Yes I've joined Coeliac Uk, which I've found quite useful, especially the little food and drink book. Everything seems so complicated though, just got my first prescription of gluten-free food, not sure I can face that amount of hassle every month! I'll stick around this forum and see if it helps.

It does get easier. I made mistakes at the start with things like soya sauce and Lee & Perrins. I foolishly just never thought to check those although I read the ingredients of all 'foodstuff'. I don't have a problem cooking at home and my favourite local restaurant has been great since I told them. The chef tells me what I can have and offers to makes me alternative sauces and salad dressings. It's lunchtime out of home which I find the most difficult. There'a a microwave at work but it's disgusting and I would definately get cross- contamination. I tend to make up salads and eat them straight from my container. Although jacket potato would be a good lunch I'm wary of buying that from take away places in case of cross-contamination.

This forum really helped me and I think that just reading it and getting as much information as possible eventually makes it easier to deal with being coeliac.

My G.P. asked me to go back on gluten for six weeks and I only lasted four days as I felt so bad. The upside to that is that I'm no longer gazing longingly at fresh bread etc as now you couldn't pay me to eat it!! The last 2 days are the best I've felt in a long time and that makes being gluten free no longer a chore!!

Hi I am also from Devon, not far from Torquay.

Just had bloods done and waiting for results but seems certain I have it.

I'm just outside Torquay! Good luck with blood tests, if you get referred to Torbay hospital they're very good

      Surgery was in April 2023 due adhesions wrapped around my small bowel which caused blockage and had to be removed. Adhesions were so badly entangled that Surgeon could not cut out them, so the resection was performed. July 2025 started having severe yellow diarrhea and sometimes constipation.       Disaccharide deficient, confusing biopsy results, no blood test

      If your tTg-IgA was 28 and positive is at 3, you are nearly 10x over the positive marker, so the most likely explanation by far would be celiac disease. I also do not understand why your doctor would not want to run the blood test, which is the normal first step in the diagnosis process.

      I have always eaten gluten and never stopped until my recent episode. I ask because different labs used different reference ranges so scores without a reference range aren't very helpful.

      Surgery was in April 2023 due adhesions wrapped around my small bowel which caused blockage and had to be removed. Adhesions were so badly entangled that Surgeon could not cut out them, so the resection was performed. July 2025 started having severe yellow diarrhea and sometimes constipation. Just had another episode and was tested for celiac. Blood test stated 1.5 after eating gluten for 2 weeks. Lipase level was 120. Having an CT scan to check the pancreas. I have never had any issues eating gluten and now I am so fearful that I might have celiac. Has anyone had a small bowel resection? I am 65 years old. UGGH! I am still feeling bloating etc.
