Sourdough Bread And Bread Machine ?

I really miss sourdough bread - anyone have a (simple!) recipe? I don't have a bread machine but I am wondering if I need to buy one? If you have one, how often do you use it? Is it worth it to have your own - does it taste better than the premade? I am not wild about the premade I have tried but my children will eat it occasionally. I have tried to find premade sourdough bread and I can't.

I had an unused bread machine from back before I went gluten-free, and I used it extensively when I first went gluten-free (I had a particularly nasty store-bought bread first and decided I should be making bread at home). I haven't used it in a long time because I have switched to bread recipes that I bake in the oven instead..

Speaking of one of those recipes, Pamela's has a recipe for a crispy french bread loaf here: Open Original Shared Link It uses vinegar to create a slightly sour taste--it's not like "real" sourdough (I'm from CA, so I grew up on San Francisco style sourdough) but it's a lot easier because you don't need a starter. And with the mix, it really doesn't take long.

I'm sure someone else has other recipes for real sourdough.. I planned to make some but still haven't gotten around to it yet. Maybe I will try within the next few weeks, and if so, I'll let you know how it goes (and how hard it is)!

Interesting, when I suffered for a few months with ectopics I noticed that carbohydrates would cause indigestion and bloating in my stomach, then that would lead to my heart skipping beats, and I could feel it in my throat, it was very unsettling.  My last serious bout of this was after eating a Muller Rice Pudding for breakfast.   I happened to be wearing a 48 hour halter at the time and cardiology picked it up, but they weren't worried about what they saw. There was some British doctor who'd made some videos on the Vagus nerve that I remember watching at the time which made sense of what I was experiencing, there did seem to be some sort of connection.

I asked my cardiologist about stopping vitamins.  He said his tests account for all detectable vitamins from sources other than food.  I only need to stop them for a couple of days.  He has me keep records of meds and vitamins I've ingested over the past 10 days and prior and he does his calculations.

Reply to treats I try and eat to bring up the glucose. Sometime I get up 3 times a night and eat something. I don't think food is the issue. A lot of the food they say should help doesn't.  Many mornings my level is 59 and I feel sick, sometimes for hours. It has been recommended I go to an Endocrinologist.
