Welp our son was 80-90% better on the gluten-free diet, so we took him to a allegist for some food testing. Turns out he is also alergic to egg! So now we have to learn ho to look for egg in everything! Ugh. :(

LOL...I'm with you on the coffee.....

Did the doctor say the severity of the allergy? Sometimes it can be very minor so you could have it in moderation, that can not be done of course if its a severe allergy. Like maybe he could have things that have a little bit of eggs in it but not like eggs straight or something with alot?

Maybe you should get allergy testing done and see what's going on with you..

We thing alot alike... after posting that I called and schedualed an apt for myself. I will be away on vaction, so it wont be til the 25th...

He gave it a 3 out of 4 for servitiy, so bad, but could be worse I guess. But he said that 80% of kids grow out of egg algeries. We are to get him re tested in a year.

KaitiUSA Enthusiast

Hopefully he does grow out of it. The gluten free diet may help him to outgrow the other allergy because his system will be stronger.

Looks like you have quite a handful...but your right it could be way worse.

Definitely smart to get you tested...another thing, if it is not eggs..when I first started the diet I was not sensitive to gluten and everything I ate gave me stomach aches until my intestines healed and the longer I was gluten-free the more sensitive I became.

Could it be possible, if its not another allergy causing you problems, that the damage you may have(if celiac) is making you randomly feel bad and it may all be linked to that? Just a thought

Or you maybe could have other allergies or intolerances in addition to gluten.

Yea, its possible I spose.. I just have alot of questions.. and no answers yet. I am going on three years of trying to solve this with no luck yet. So I have gotten a bit pesstimistic. I have been thinking of going back on gluten for a few months while saving for Entrolab. I am anemic, so the biposy SHOULD have been postive if it was celiac disease. Its hard to belive 2 seperate doctors missed durring 2 seperate endoscopies, but they could have even they admit that. Since my ins wont cover the blood tests I realy dont have much other recourse if I am to solve this. It could be mulpte things, and only testing is gonna discover that I think. I think I need to do somthing to at least eliminate a few mote possible ansers.

Hi @JulieRe.  I just found your post.  It seems that I am also experiencing thrush, and my doctor believes that I have fungal overgrowth in my gut, which is most likely candida.  I'm seeing my GI doctor next week, so I'm hoping she can diagnose and confirm this and then give me an antifungal treatment.  In the meantime, I have been working with a functional medicine doctor, doing a candida cleanse and taking vitamins. It's already helping to make me feel better (with some ups and downs, of course), so I do think the yeast is definitely a problem for me on top of my celiac disease and I'm hoping my GI doctor can look into this a bit further.  So, how about you?  Did the candida come back, or is it still gone following your fluconazole treatment?  Also, was it awful to take fluconazole?  I understand that taking an antifungal can cause a reaction that sometimes makes people feel sick while they're taking it.  I hope you're doing better still !

I'm so sorry you're going through this—the "gluten challenge" is notoriously brutal, and it's awful to deliberately make yourself sick when you've already found the answer. For the joint pain, many people find that over-the-counter anti-inflammatories like ibuprofen can help take the edge off, and using heating pads or warm baths can provide some direct relief for the aches. For the digestive misery, stick to simple, easy-to-digest foods (like plain rice, bananas, and bone broth) and drink plenty of water and electrolytes to stay hydrated. It feels like the longest month ever, but you are doing the right thing to get a clear diagnosis, which can be crucial for your long-term health and getting the proper care. Hang in there; you can get through this! This article, and the comments below it, may be helpful:

Daura Damm (a sponsor here) uses AN-PEP enzymes and filtering in their brewing process to reduce/remove gluten, and it actually tests below 10ppm (I've see a document where they claim 5ppm).

This topic has come up before on this forum and has been researched. No GMO wheat, barley and rye are commercially available in the USA. Any modifications are from hybridization, not laboratory genetic modification. Better toleration of wheat, barley and rye products in other countries is thought to be due to use of heirloom varieties of these cereal grains as opposed to the hybrids used in the USA which contain much larger amounts of gluten.

Welcome to the forum @Ceekay! If you have celiac disease then you can't eat wheat in other countries because it would still contain gliadin, the harmful part of the grain. Have you been diagnosed with celiac disease?
