Hi Berneses,

I am from Massachusetts and am looking into GI doctors in the Boston area. Would you mind sharing any doctor's names you know of who may specialize in celiac disease?

Thanks,

Jen H

I just made an appt with Catherine Chesney at Beth Israel Celiac Center but it's not until January 18th!!!!!! I'm going to see if I can find someone to take me sooner but in the meantime here'sthe link to their site:

I'm also looking for a GI doc in Boston because my PCP is clueless (too bad I need a PCP for referrals). My old doc Dr. G. Levine at Dartmouth (GREAT doctor by the way) reccommended Ciaran Kelly (617-667-1272) at Beth Israel and said he was the best in the city. He's got a 2 month wait though. I guess there's a Celiac Center at BI so there are several doc there that specialize.

If there are any people from NH or VT that don't mind a drive up to DHMC in Lebanon, Dr. Levine is great. I highly recommend him.

Meanwhile my PCP here refuses to research Celiacs, she has no idea why my liver enzymes are elevated....hello!!! Going in for a CT scan on Monday to check the size of my liver. She's thinking Hepatitis or fatty liver disease, I know it's just because I'm bad on my diet.

Anyway, good luck to all! I'm happy to see other Bostonians or transplants on here : )

Hey Steph- That's good to know. Boston is closer to me (I'm in Portsmouth, NH) but Dartmouth isn't so far and I wouldn't mind driving up there if I could see someone sooner. My PCP in portsmouth, Dr. Marni Nicholas, is absolutely phenomenal when it comes to Celiac's and everything else! I HIGHLY recommend her (although the GI she sent me to- Dr. Damianos in Portsmouth wasn't so hot).

Maybe I'll call and see if I can get in with Dr. Levine or Dr. Kelly sooner. I've been having a lot of problems lately.

AVOID at ALL Costs: Dr. Stephen Rubin and Dr. John Gandolfo. They are both associated with North Shore Medical Center, have no clue and dropped me like a hot potato when they couldn't figure out what was "wrong" with me. Both claimed it was stress. Ugh!

The only two I have heard of are Dr. Chesney and Dr. Kelly at Beth Israel (which has a celiac center). I haven't seen either- I have an appointment with Dr. Chesney in January.

Thank you that’s really helpful, hopeful won’t have to have a biopsy.

That means the normal range (i.e. not celiac disease) would be a result less than 14.99.  Your result is WAY above that. Some gastroenterologists would diagnose that as celiac disease even without a confirming biopsy because it is more than ten times the top of the normal range.

Hi everyone. Back in 2022 I had blood work drawn for iga ext gliadin. Since then I’ve developed worse stomach issues and all other health issues. My doctor just said cut out gluten. He did no further testing. Please see my test results attached. I just need some direction cause I feel so ill and the stomach pain is becoming worse. Can this test show indications for other gastrointestinal diseases?

Thank you. These were the results TTG ABS NUMERICAL: > 250.0 U/mL [< 14.99]  Really don’t understand the results!

Clearly from what you've said the info on Dailymed is much more up to date than the other site, which hasn't been updated since 2017. The fact that some companies might be repackaging drugs does not mean the info on the ingredients is not correct.
