This coming weekend is my first time having to eat out - I live in Canberra and going to Sydney, staying in Newtown. My DH is so painful that I'd love to hear about any strict or totally gluten-free restaurants etc in the inner city.

There are no totally gluten free places in Newtown but The organic pomegranate king st - they have a 10% discount for coeliac society members and are coeliac Society partners, Atomic Thai king st newtown have a separate gluten-free menu and Guzman Y gomez is a traditional mexican place on king st again that does gluten-free options. I haven't yet tried Pomegranate - though I really want too. And I have eat at the other two numerous times and have never been glutened at either.

The Healthy feast is a Totally gluten free bakery (they do cafe type stuff as well) 157 Norton Street Leichhardt, NSW, 2040

I also eat at Guzman and Gomez all the time (It'd have to be at least 100 times by now since I went gluten free) and I've never gotten sick.

A bit further afield - The Winery at Surry Hills were great.

Cafe 2042 - King st Newtown. I forgot about them - they do fab food and are all up on all kinds of allergies and intolerances. If they aren't sure of something they don't guess - they go and look etc!

Thank you all.

I am a bit itchy but not as bad as I use to get in the past.

Newtown is a great place for eating healthy - so many great people willing to help without 'inconvenience' tone and body language.

I had a great meal at the Carlisle Castle hotel - Salmon and veg and yummy!

The only problem was my sisters 40th birthday & I suspect the "cornflour" wasn't just cornflour.

Otherwise my first eating out / travel has been a fun and full one.

:)

Yeah - the carlisle is great - they fry their chips separate - gotta love that. I mean really - at the end of the day - now hard is it? Not very, its a shame more places don't just do it!!

Some might. Some might not. Why don't you try it? Taste is a very personal and individual thing. I don't know that anyone can speak for you.

Want to know if people like the taste with chocolate milk

Welcome to the forum, @Thoas! Just curious. Why do you ask? Is there some reason you are hesitant to try it besides taste?

Has anyone made cream of buckwheat using chocolate milk?

I was instructed to take Algaecal as alternative to bisphosphonate drugs for osteoporosis. I did for 2 years, 1200 mg a day. My cholesterol spiked above normal during this time. We watched it and finally determined best to get a test to see if calcium was causing the spike. I have never had high cholesterol before. Could the celiac non absorption have caused calcium to build in my arteries? Now put on a statin to lower cholesterol (began at 180 went to 240 while on Alcagal). thanks
