Just wanted to say thanks again to my fellow So Cal people for making Saturday a very nice, informal get together. It was both great to commiserate with people who understand and also educational.

It was so great meeting everyone who came!!!!!!!

I was at the WeHo Whole Foods today and on a whim stopped by their bakery dept and they said *drum roll* starting today/tomorrow they will be carrying 19 NEW gluten-free fresh bakery items - breads, pies, pizza crusts, muffins - NINETEEN! So stop by and support them :) And happy eating :D

Whole Foods is on the corner of Santa Monica Blvd and Fairfax in West Hollywood.

I hadn't really had a chance to write about what happend after getting home, yet, but have a few minutes now to do that...

I got home, and put up the free samples we'd split up, and put the bottles of Bard's Tale in the fridge, and one on the counter so I could drink it. Not two minutes later, I heard a crash-y type noise in the fridge. When I opened the fridge door, I discovered that one of the bottles had burst, breaking the "shatter-proof" shelf above it, and sending beer and glass shards everywhere! I took the remaining bottles out of the fridge, worried about temperature shock, and started emptying the fridge. About five items out of the fridge later (a whole two minutes), one of the bottles I had taken out of the fridge popped, spraying beer and glass shards over the kitchen. My husband came out at this point to see what was going on, and the bottle I left out to try burst on the counter right next to him, spreading beer and glass shards across the remaining clean portion of the kitchen! We've been finding glass shards everywhere (near the front door, across the living room, etc.) for the past three days! (No injuries though... everyone's just fine! :-) ) It took about the same amount of time for the beer smell to vent!

I gotta say, though, my kitchen and fridge haven't been this clean in ages! :-)

The last remaining bottle is out on my balcony. I'm scared to open it. :o

That is absolutely insane. I'm so sorry that happened. I've never heard of beer exploding. I had a soda explode once because I put it in the freezer and forgot about it but that is just nuts.

The ones I drank had some head on them but my god!

Please tell your husband I didn't do it on purpose! He probably thinks your Celiac friends are crazed beer assasins. I'm just glad everyone is ok.

Hehehe... Maybe it was all the time I spent with the Zen monks at my yoga retreat, but eh.... it's all good. :-) I do plan on trying that last bottle... But will probably open it with a big towel wrapped around it. ;-) hehehe...

Hahaha, about the beer :) That's classic homebrew beer story, lol, I guess that says something about the state of gluten-free beer brewing!

      Hello, I was very stick,  with flu like symptoms, but my virus panel came back negative and we couldn’t figure out what’s going on. The doctor then added a celiac panel.  Has anyone ever had such a dramatic change?  What are the odds this is true celiac I am going to have an endoscopy, but it’s expensive and I just feel like why can’t the labs be enough?

      Eating out in general is full of risks, but this article may help:

      This kind of question is always difficult to give a definitive answer to because of so many variables. One such variable is the sensitivity of the individual celiac to small amounts of gluten cross contamination. An amount that causes a reaction in one celiac many not in another, or at least not be discernable which, of course, does not exactly equate to being "safe".

      I see that Cracker Barrel restaurants have a gluten free menu (not all locations, but one confirmed that they do). I was wondering if it is safe for my 5 year old son with celiac disease?
