My stomach makes sloshing noises and rumbling noises it seems like after i eat anything with gluten! I don't know if i am being a hypochondriac or what but this is accompanied by a stomach ache and i was wondering if this sounds like it could possible be a gluten intolerance?? The noises are loud enough for people around me to hear, and if you put your hand on my stomach you can feel it. Please help me!

Stomach grumbling IS a symptom of celiac and gluten intolerance for some people, but it's also a vague phenomenon that can happen for a lot of different reasons. Do you have any other health issues or symptoms that might be indicative of a problem? Most people who are found to have gluten problems report more symptoms than just stomach noise.

It's possible that your noise might be caused by gluten, but no one here is going to jump the gun and tell you that's the reason. Have you talked to a doctor about it? Requested testing if that's what you think it might be?

In the meantime, I recommend that you continue on with your normal diet. Testing can only be accurate when you're eating a full-gluten diet, so you would probably want to make sure you've finished all potential testing before trying the diet. Otherwise, you'd have to go back on gluten for several months if you ever wanted to be tested (lots of reasons you might)...and you may not want to do that, if it turns out that you feel better without it.

Well i would suggest not eating gluten. And mine does it too once in awhile and i have noticed it to be gas or indigestion. But i know how you feel :( feels weird

For me that was one of the first things that became annoying to me. So many think it is just because your hungrey but for me even in grade school I noticed if I ate breakfast my tummy would be grumbling all day. It got to the point in school where I would always have a sweater or coat on my lab to muffle the noise. After I was diagnosed that went away. My tummy is now nice and quiet but the rumbles are one of the first signs that I have gotten into something I shouldn't have.

That is how I first noticed that something wasn't right with me almost a year ago. It started with rumbly tummy and mild pain and progressed into full blown agony. Please understand, Im only speaking from personal experience. There is no harm in going gluten free for a week to see how it makes you feel.If you go to the doctor, he/she will probably tell you to take some otc meds and send you home. The sooner you detect the problem, the less damage will occur. Best of luck.

While the positive endoscopy confirms the diagnosis, it's important to be skeptical of the idea that your daughter will simply "bounce back" to a pre-challenge state. The gluten challenge was essentially a controlled, prolonged exposure that likely caused significant inflammation and damage to her system; it's not surprising that recovery is slow and that a subsequent exposure hit her so hard. The persistent fatigue is a major red flag that her body is still struggling, potentially indicating that the initial damage hasn't fully healed or that her system is now in a heightened state of reactivity. Rather than seeking anecdotal timelines from others, her experience underscores the critical need for close follow-up with her gastroenterologist to rule out other nutrient deficiencies commonly caused by celiac flare-ups, like iron or B12, and to consult with a dietitian to scrutinize her diet for any hidden sources of cross-contamination that could be perpetuating her symptoms. The most common nutrient deficiencies associated with celiac disease that may lead to testing for the condition include iron, vitamin D, folate (vitamin B9), vitamin B12, calcium, zinc, and magnesium.  Unfortunately many doctors, including my own doctor at the time, don't do extensive follow up testing for a broad range of nutrient deficiencies, nor recommend that those just diagnosed with celiac disease take a broad spectrum vitamin/mineral supplement, which would greatly benefit most, if not all, newly diagnosed celiacs.

Brain fog, like other celiac disease symptoms, does improve after you to 100% gluten-free, and supplementation will also help.

Were you doing any of the new home construction yourself? Drywall compounds and adhesives used in construction have been known to cause problems for some celiacs.

Hello @Scatterbrain and welcome to the forum I am sorry to hear you have had a return of your symptoms.  My first thoughts were that stress can cause IBS-like symptoms - a friend of mine has been suffering a huge amount of stress and when that happens she gets diarrhea.  But you say that you haven't got any bad abdominal issues, so perhaps you could share what other symptoms you are having? Hello, I was newly diagnosed in January of this year (2025).  Since then I have been strict about staying gluten free and only cooking at home.  I started feeling better in July while gradually resuming close to my normal routine of activities and athletics. September and October were extremely stressful due to a new home build being finished and moving.  My spouse and I take care of his mom who has advanced dementia and have been since 2021.  We did all the moving as well as get the other house on the market for the month of October.  Since earlier this month I feel like I did back in the early stages of my diagnosis.  Almost all of my symptoms have come back except for the bad abdominal issues.  I haven’t changed my diet or supplements since January and wonder if the stress has caused a set back? Any thoughts are helpful.  Thanks
