Not Reccomended: Space Camp "gluten-free" Food.

I went to space camp in Huntsville, Alabama over the summer and they had supposedly "gluten free" meals. I went there, and the first day the cafeteria had no idea what "gluten free" was. It took them and hour and a half to get my food ready, boiling some chicken and carrots. It was horrible. Nothing was organized, and they weren't careful about anything. I personally saw a cafeteria lady put her gluten syrup covered gloves on top of the gluten free waffles my dad sent to me, and they were contaminated so I couldn't eat them. At lunch and dinner the salad bar was "gluten free", but not really. Croutons were spread everywhere and everything was contaminated. Screw that.... and then, when dinner came, they forgot most of the time about my gluten diet. And THEN, when a new batch of cafeteria workers came the second week I was there, I went through starvation again as mostly everything I got was contaminated and they had no idea what they were doing.

WARNING: DO NOT TRUST THE SPACE CAMP "GLUTEN FREE" DIET!

Just a bit of info :)

That is very dissapointing to hear. I know it costs a lot of money to attend space camp in the first place and then to be hungry! How sad!

I can relate. I went to the National Youth Leadership Forum on Medicine in Boston this summer, and practically starved.

For my first night, I got there late and they offered me pizza, so I ate the rest of the apple and Bumble Bar I had brought on the eight hour flight. I didn't get to a grocery store for another day, and practically starved. I ate gluten-free bread and peanut butter and cheese... that's about it. It sucked!

Someone should do something about camps for kids... especially when the cost of food is included, and they either starve you or make you sick.

Thank you that’s really helpful, hopeful won’t have to have a biopsy.

That means the normal range (i.e. not celiac disease) would be a result less than 14.99.  Your result is WAY above that. Some gastroenterologists would diagnose that as celiac disease even without a confirming biopsy because it is more than ten times the top of the normal range.

Hi everyone. Back in 2022 I had blood work drawn for iga ext gliadin. Since then I’ve developed worse stomach issues and all other health issues. My doctor just said cut out gluten. He did no further testing. Please see my test results attached. I just need some direction cause I feel so ill and the stomach pain is becoming worse. Can this test show indications for other gastrointestinal diseases?

Thank you. These were the results TTG ABS NUMERICAL: > 250.0 U/mL [< 14.99]  Really don’t understand the results!

Clearly from what you've said the info on Dailymed is much more up to date than the other site, which hasn't been updated since 2017. The fact that some companies might be repackaging drugs does not mean the info on the ingredients is not correct.
