Heartburn, Headaches, And Muscle Aches...how Long To Resolve?

If you have/had symptoms of heartburn, headaches, and/or muscle aches, I'm curious how long it took for those to improve after going gluten-free. I know it's different for everyone and it can take a while for some. I'm just curious about personal/individual experience. These seem to be the most lingering of symptoms for me. Aside from my 7 gluten challenge at the beginning of April I have been gluten-free since Nov (~5mo).

My muscle aches went away withinn days. Headaches improved but still get them about weekly vs daily, and I still have acid reflux. I'm gluten free for about a month now. I think it all takes time. Hang in there.

For me, it took several months. Just taking gluten out of my diet wasn't the answer. I started taking extra potassium and magnesium to help my muscles. I was put in Nexium for 5 months and even now a year later I am very careful because of the burning I had from my stomach and always take an antacid before I have anything spicy or acidic. Headaches will pass in time with a clean diet, don't be afriad to use a pain reliever. If you find that you are not getting better and things keep arising, or keep making you sick, try a grain-free diet. After a year gluten-free, I finally had to go grain-free and it made a huge difference for me.

      good luck! vital wheat gluten made me violently ill. I will touch the stuff ever again.

      I wouldn't consider this lucky. I can NOT tolerate the symptoms. And I googled it and I was not even getting 10 grams of gluten per day and I was extremely ill. They'd have to put me in the hospital. I'm not kidding.   I will have my first appt with a GI dr on March 4th   I will not eat gluten again - at least not on purpose   they are going to have to come up with a test that doesn't require it.

      What Thiamine Hydrochloride brand do you take? Is it like the other vitamins I have added? What brand Tryptophan and amount do you take. Thanks

      I would not think store bought yogurt would contain gluten unless it possibly could be through an added flavoring or coloring ingredient. Otherwise, it should be naturally gluten free.  Keep in mind that some companies are capitalizing on people's fears and ignorance (nothing personal intended) by labeling foods "gluten free" that are just that way by the nature of what they are. They are hoping to create a marketing edge over their competitors by adding "gluten free" because they know it may catch attention of those new to the celiac/gluten sensitivity experience without having to cost them anything in the way of changing their manufacturing process or doing testing.

      I believe the GFCO does use a common logo for certified gluten free products (those containing not more that 10ppm of gluten) but nothing universal yet from the FDA for standard gluten free products (those containing not more that 20ppm).
