I am so excited! After 2 years gluten free, DS's ttg's are FINALLY NORMAL!!!!

We have been strict and cold not figure out why there were still not WNL. I started poking around here and got some great leads and after demanding more testing and new Dr's we figured out DS also had hypothyroidism. This was in Jan/Feb of this year. So here we are in July with 5 months on synthroid and he's finally under 20!!! I am not happy they they didn't tell me what his number was (according to the Dr. they just say "below 20" which I am not sure I buy). Still thinking of doing more Dr. shopping. It was absolutely ridiculous that he couldn't have called me with the results since we are 2 years into this dx and DS is totally asymptomatic. That was annoying but hey, we know now that his levels are good and I am a happy Mama!

You might ask the doctor's office what the reference range is for the test, even get a copy for yourself. Many labs have ranges similar to "<19", so if your DS is under 20, that is the limit below which they simply cannot detect an exact number.

So, sounds great, and that is awesome news to receive! Congratulations!

Yes, I knot the reference range was under 20 but I have always heard numbers below that from people and was hoping I would as well. Again, it's within normal limits so I guess I shouldn't concern myself with it ;)

That is good news. Just a thought...really a theory I have...my DS was hypothyroid as well, but not on meds as it was minimal and I wanted to wait a bit to see if being gluten-free helped. 1 year gluten-free and it actually was a little worse. And his ttg remained elevated. Then we went casein free as well, and 3 mos later his ttg was normal and thyroid had fallen 4 points to well within normal.

Perhaps it is coincidence...but I know now when he gets casein he reacts badly to it, wheraxs before I thought it wasn't an issue for him. I am curious how many thyroid issues may be caused by food related inflammation.

My son has had milk once in his life. He has an anaphylactic allergy to it so that is a good theory (and I know so much gluten and dairy issues go hand in hand) but that's not the case with him.

It looks like their most recent clinical trial just finished up on 5-22-2025.

Dear Scott,  please check the link https://clinicaltrials.gov/study/NCT05574010?intr=KAN-101&rank=1 What do you think about it?

KAN‑101 is still very much in development and being actively studied. It has not been dropped—rather, it is advancing through Phases 1 and 2, moving toward what could become the first disease‑modifying treatment for celiac disease. https://anokion.com/press_releases/anokion-announces-positive-symptom-data-from-its-phase-2-trial-evaluating-kan-101-for-the-treatment-of-celiac-disease/

Thiamine interacts with all the other B vitamins.  Thiamine and B 6 make a very important enzyme together. With more thiamine and other vitamins available from the supplements your body is absorbing the ones you need more of.  The body can control which vitamins to absorb or not.  You're absorbing more and it's being transported through the blood.   It's common to have both a Thiamine and a Pyridoxine deficiency.  Keep taking the B Complex. This is why it's best to stop taking supplements for six to eight weeks before testing vitamin levels.

Yes I took a supplement that had B6 in it, low dosage though. I've stopped taking that. B1 doesn't affect other B vitamin levels?
