The Barley Field

GF Lover Rising Star

So, I'm driving into town yesterday afternoon. All of a sudden I am enveloped in a cloud of barley dust. The tractor was harvesting right next to the road when I came by. Of course my windows were open, it was a rare warm day.

I knew right away that I would be on trouble, I could taste the barley in my mouth, and had no water in the car.

I get home about an hour later. I'm just waiting to see what happens. It took about 4 hours and hit like a freight train. It literally knocked the breath right out of me and my gut was twisting and cramping. My wonderful husband starts really freaking out now. This was one of my most severe attacks in a year or so. He starts stuffing papyra enzymes and pepto down my throat. The severe debilitating pain lasted a total of 45 minutes.

The rest of the night and now today my gut feels bruised but not reacting anymore. I think most will know about that bruised feeling.

A word of caution, when driving by fields this fall season. Keep windows closed and air vents closed also.

Be afraid, be very afraid

Ooh.

Around me I'm more likely to get "cottoned"...but I get your point.

That truly sucks.

Thank you that’s really helpful, hopeful won’t have to have a biopsy.

That means the normal range (i.e. not celiac disease) would be a result less than 14.99.  Your result is WAY above that. Some gastroenterologists would diagnose that as celiac disease even without a confirming biopsy because it is more than ten times the top of the normal range.

Hi everyone. Back in 2022 I had blood work drawn for iga ext gliadin. Since then I’ve developed worse stomach issues and all other health issues. My doctor just said cut out gluten. He did no further testing. Please see my test results attached. I just need some direction cause I feel so ill and the stomach pain is becoming worse. Can this test show indications for other gastrointestinal diseases?

Thank you. These were the results TTG ABS NUMERICAL: > 250.0 U/mL [< 14.99]  Really don’t understand the results!

Clearly from what you've said the info on Dailymed is much more up to date than the other site, which hasn't been updated since 2017. The fact that some companies might be repackaging drugs does not mean the info on the ingredients is not correct.
