Generic Cipro Antibiotic

Hi everyone,

As a celiac person with multiple allergies, I have found that the only antibiotic I can take is CIPRO. However, a generic form of this drug apparently hit the market last month. There is some doubt as to whether it is gluten-free. Has anyone had experience with this issue yet?

I came down with a horrible infection over the weekend and had to get antibioitics on Monday. The pharmacist tried to give me generic Cipro, but switched to name-brand because of concerns over the gluten content.

Thoughts or info, anyone? ? Thanks so much!

PS Luckily, since going on the gluten-free diet a year ago, I rarely get infections that require antibiotics, but want to be prepared in case of the need in the future!

      If you have hemorrhoids 1x weekly I don't see how you have time to heal from one episode before you experience another one, unless each one is a very minor event. Have you consulted a physician about your hemorrhoid issue? It's not normal to be having an episode every week unless it is really one episode that is not completely healing between weekly...

      No I haven't had one since 2021. I rarely have more than 1 per week.

      Sorry, I see that now as I reread your original post. You say you have hemorrhoids "only once a week" now. When I develop hemorrhoids, which is once every few years now, it generally takes 3-4 days for healing to take place. So, it doesn't seem like you could have much relief time between episodes if you have them weekly. Have you had a lower GI scoping done...

      Everyday I eat a medium to large apple in the morning and a large banana at night. I eat a cup of oatmeal in the evening. The ezekiel wheat bread I eat has a good amount of fiber. I haven't dealt with constipation for at least a year. Most of the time my feces are soft.
