ARCHIVED Red Wine Made Me Sick And I Dont Know Why
rutland posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
This never happened to me before, I just cant seem to tolerate red wine anymore. I used to be able to have several glasses of wine and have a good time. Now when I drink it I get nauseus, trouble sleeping, and anxious. I just came back from being down the shore and I tried to have a glass of wine again and it just sat in my stomach and then I had to throw... -
I am feeling very frusterated because a few weeks ago after being gluten-free for 2mos. I saw a tremendous improvement in my health. My energy was coming back and my spirits lifted. But Ive had a set back and Im almost positive that its not because of being glutened. I first noticed that I felt really bad after my herbalist gave me liquid chlorophyll...

Me and my boyfriend recently got back together after being broken up for the past 2mos. It was during this time that I discovered my gluten intolerance/or celiac disease (wasnt officially diagnosed, but responded positively to the diet) I had been very sick during those past few months. Last week he asked me to go out to dinner and I told him Id rather cook...

ARCHIVED Cleansing?
rutland replied to justme's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Just me, Dont do it! I am a big advocate of natural medicine but the whole cleansing/detox thing is not healthy. I did it and got Soooooooooooooooo sick. I think when it comes to alternative treatments, one rule of thumb comes to mind. If it seems extreme, then it cant possibly bennefit the body. One more rule of thumb, if someone tells you that you need... -
Hi, Im from Philly. If I go out for lunch I usually have a salad with olive oil and vineger. Or I make my own food and take it with me. I try to keep it simple, like tuna fish with some rice crackers, or chicken breast wrapped in romaine lettuce. Lots of snacks like fruit and nuts. Lately Ive been making lots of soups and freezing them so that I can have...

ARCHIVED Very Strange Reaction
rutland replied to rutland's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Thanks, your right about just eating superfoods and wholefoods. Im sure that would be the healthiest. I think that even though the chlorophyll comes from plants and would seem mild, for me, it triggers a detoxification effect. Its concentrated, so who knows how that effects the body. I mean, I was doing fine until I started taking it. But within a week of... -
ARCHIVED Very Strange Reaction
rutland replied to rutland's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
It says on the bottle gluten free. So Im sure that gluten is not the culprit. I contacted my herbalist and he told me that no one has ever reacted this way to the chloropyll, he said it is very mild on the body. But I dont believe that because everything I have read so far about it is that this is very potent stuff. I mean, anything that is concentrated would... -
ARCHIVED Very Strange Reaction
rutland posted a topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
OK. This is a mystery. I woke up at 3:30 in the morning in a cold sweat and severe agitation. Ive been doing very well on the gluten-free diet making major improvements so this is very out of character. Heres what Ive been doing different. If anyone could make sense of this it would be greatly appreaciated. I have an herbalist that I consulted with last... -
ARCHIVED Long-winded Newbie Has Some Questions
rutland replied to Looking for answers's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Yes, its absolutely possible that you can have celiac without any known family members having it. Esp. since many doctors dont ever think to test for it, so you never know. If you know that wheat makes you sick its very likely that its the gluten in wheat that made you sick. Since your still eating spelt, rye and other glutenous grains your may be doing further... -
Just me, I have some suggestions. For starters, you may have hypoglycemia. Your diet is really heavy in carbohydrates which can cause a surge of insulin in your system, which can then bring your blood sugar down and make you feel really bad. Eating meals heavy in carbs can do a number on your blood sugar balance. Try eating some eggs and gluten-free...

No Im not sweating. Its a strange warm, tingling, ichy, sensation on my head and neck area. Its an immediate reaction to what I just ate. I eat meat about every meal because I feel I need a lot of protein. I got it again this morning after I ate breakfast. Which was some turkey bacon with an apple. Ive been reading a lot about leaky gut syndrome and I...

It was definately gluten-free. It said so on the box. Can you always trust that? I think that my body is reacting to everything right now. So it may not even be the sausage. I get strange symptoms after I eat anything. Like today I had a bowl of chicken soup with veg. and the same thing happened without the nausea. This weird tingly, hot sensation on...

I thought I had a great idea for breakfast. I would have a gluten-free pork sausage patty with either a raw or cooked apple. This morning after eating it, I got sick and nauseous. I wanted to throw it up but I couldnt. Another strange symptom was I hot and tingling sensation all over my head? Odd. Is a pork allergy common? Does anyone have any breakfast...

ARCHIVED gluten-free Bread
rutland replied to par18's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Yes, Glutino is a great product. Everything Ive tried was excellent. They even make gluten-free ice cream cones. Im in the middle of healing so Im passing on the bread only because I think I react to the yeast. Ill have to wait a while to try that. Wholefoods market and mostly all health food stores carry Glutino products. -
ARCHIVED Question Re Your Symptoms After Eating "toxic" Foods
rutland replied to capecodda's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Ive experienced the same thing. I often would wake up in the middle of the night to go tinkle. My doctor told me not to drink so much water. But I really didnt. I could drink just a few sips and I would be off and running. Its the bodys inability to absorb the fluids properly but I not sure I understand exacly why this would happen with a gluten intolerance... -

Lauren, I know what you mean about how pricey this stuff can be. I heard that the reading terminal has gluten free baked goods. Not sure about their prices though. Im trying to just eat fresh fruits and vegtables but I do love baked goods. I sometimes wonder how good they really are for you, I just get such cravings. Its comfort food I guess. Steph -
ARCHIVED Gluten Free Lipsticks
rutland posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Ive been on a mission to find out what lipsticks are gluten free as I am an avid lipstick fanatic. I recently read about Avon, Lancome, OPI, and bennefit being gluten free. Can anyone add to this list? I know that the Burts Bees lip shimmers are gluten-free. I happen to love Rimmel, does anyone know about this one? Or others? Please share. Steph -
ARCHIVED Palmer's Cocoa Butter Lotion
rutland replied to Chrisser's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Yes I love it! I had used the palmers cocco butter in a jar. It really thick and I use it on my feet and on my clients feet (Im a massage therapist). I love the smell of it, like a light chocolate smell. Unfortunatly, if the company is unable to answer that question and doesnt test the product for gluten, it probably has it. I know that there are times when... -
ARCHIVED Please Say That Someone Has Experienced This!
rutland replied to rutland's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Im sure your right. I dont think Im absorbing enough nutrients to support nervous system function. I guess its just a matter of time that I do. I know that I get heart palpitations a clear sign of electrolyte imbalacne. Thanks for the insight. Kaiti, do you know of any lipsticks that are gluten free. So far Ive heard that Avon, lancome, OPI, and bennefit... -
Im from philly and so far have had no luck with finding a good doctor that is willing to listen. Has anyone had any luck in my area with this? If so PLEASE share. Ive already been gluten-free for a month and I know that being tested will show no results, but I was hoping to find someone openminded who would be willing to take my symptoms and my results to...

ARCHIVED Please Say That Someone Has Experienced This!
rutland posted a topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I went gluten free about a month ago. I noticed improvements in the way I feel but I swear there are days that I feel worse on the gluten-free diet. Im wondering if this is a detoxification effect. Heres what Im experiencing... I wake up in the morning from a good nights sleep and feel like a ton of bricks, it takes me forever to venture out from the sheets... -
ARCHIVED Is It Really Possible To Avoid Trace Amounts?
rutland posted a topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Ive read many posts about the dangers of getting trace amounts of gluten from cross contamination and other sources. Im new to all this but its seems a bit unrealistic to think that trace amounts of gluten can be entirely avoided. I feel like Im doing everything right but it makes me feel worried when I read about tiny amounts of gluten making people so sick... -
