ARCHIVED Happy Times! I Feel So Much Better!
rutland replied to rutland's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
This sucks. There is one more thing that I must give up now. Beans. I was out today running errands and when I do that I usually like to bring out some soup in a thermos and have it in between errands. I was really hungry with an empty stomach, and I ate my black bean soup that I love so much. And then WHAM! A bastard headache, backache, and a pain in my... -
ARCHIVED What To Do About Other Allergies
rutland replied to rutland's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
Thanks again for all your advice. I went to the allergist, he did the skin prick test. That showed an allergy to egg, and milk. Oddly it showed negative for wheat. Ive never been officially diagnosed with celiac disease but I know that when I excluded gluten from my diet, some severe symptoms cleared up. So regardless of what some test shows, Im staying... -
Its been a rough go for the past year or so for me. Went gluten free in August and solved my neurological problems with numbness, tingling and weakness. So I thought that a strict adherance to the gluten free diet would be enough for me to improve all the others stuff, like the exhaustion, insomnia, depression, brain fog, back pain, and anxiety. I felt completely...

ARCHIVED If Tests Are Unreliable, What Do You Do?
rutland posted a topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
My boyfriends daughter is around 16yo, she was born prematurely and has since not grown past a certain height (she is fairly short in stature). I was recently reading in the book; Dangerous grains, (a great read by the way) that short stature, esp. when both parents are fairly tall can be a clue that celiac disease could be the underlying cause of stunted... -
ARCHIVED What To Do About Other Allergies

Thanks, I just went and made an appt. with an allergist. Im looking forward to see what his method will be. My mom recommended him because he helped her with her cat dander allergy. I know food allergies are different, but the receptionist over the phone said he does test for food allergies. Im not sure what to call it. Food allergies, food intolerances... -
Since going gluten free about 4mos ago I realize that Im having reactions to other foods as well. Because my primary doc. and so many other docs are unschooled about food intolerances, Im not sure were to go to get all my food intolerances figured out. When I went gluten free I had neurological symptoms that have gone away. But now I notice that when...

Last night I dinned out at the country club my boyfriend belongs to. I spoke with the manager about requesting a gluten free meal. The manager said this was a common request and assured my that he would talk to the chef and make sure everything was fine. The menu was rather complex in that you really couldnt figure out what would be the safest because everything...

ARCHIVED Has Anyone Ever Heard Of This
rutland replied to rutland's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Vicky, I heard of that drink. Its from a protocol from a naturopath years ago. It was called the master cleanse. The difference is the master cleanse was a 14 day cleanse where the only thing you drank was the water/maple syrup/lemon juice/cayenne concoction. I would be dead in 14 days. But just taking it in the morning is sensible. Has it worked well for... -
ARCHIVED Has Anyone Ever Heard Of This

My liver enzymes were tested normal. I feel I get this pain whenever I take anything to detoxify, even though most would consider what Im doing gentle, Im just really sensitive to everything. Can you imagine how I would feel doing a liver flush. Yikes. -
ARCHIVED Has Anyone Ever Heard Of This

I think Im just going to do something gentle, Ive heard artichoke extract is very good for the liver and gallbladder. Ill look into that. Thanks all. Rachel24, its good to know about the people on curezone. They do all seem very extreme. I dont like the idea of shutting out the medical establishment altogether, I believe in integration. And when people... -
I enjoy reading up on success stories about people who have used natural remedies and treatments to heal themselves of various ills. I go to this website curezone.com where there are forums that discuss methods of treatment, mostly they talk about cleanses. Something I found of interest was the theory that a congested liver and gallbladder are involved...

ARCHIVED 5htp And Other Natural Antidepressants
rutland replied to rutland's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Thanks for your advice and support. Fiddle faddle, I do get outdoors, I try to everyday. I dont drink a lick of caffine, so I know thats not it. I believe I have a temporary chemical imbalance due to poor digestion. The good news is I think that since Ive been using digestive enzymes my mood and mind seems to be lifting a little. Even today I notice... -
ARCHIVED 5htp And Other Natural Antidepressants
rutland posted a topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Ive been struggling with anxiety and depression for a few months now. I was determined to find an alternative to the prescription meds. I researched some things in the way of alternative and decided to try 5HTP and SAMe. At first it seemed to be working, I had a couple good days. But as some time went on, about a month and a half, I developed some symptoms... -
ARCHIVED New To This, But Not *official*
rutland replied to Anonymousgurl's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
In the beginning of going gluten free. Your body will go through many changes. Youll get better, then feel a little worse later, and then feel better again, etc. etc. But their will be a point when you can feel a major difference and youll get there. Think of it like this. You body is reacting to gluten as if it were a toxin. Now youve eliminating that... -
ARCHIVED New To This, But Not *official*
rutland replied to Anonymousgurl's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I havent been diagnosed officially either, but the gluten free diet healed me from some serious neurological symptoms like weakness and numbness. I couldnt wait to be diagnosed because my symptoms were so severe and I already had the suspicion that gluten was the problem. I tried to see the doctor but I had to wait a month and I was just ready to get on with... -
At night Ive been eating goat cheese with some rice crackers to help stabilize my blood sugar before I go to bed. For the past several days I wake up aroud three in the morning with my heart racing, stomach upset, and sweats. I still havent determined if I have a dairy intolerance as well as gluten. Im wondering if they use gluten in the process of making...

Thanks for all the support and replies, I always learn when I post on the boards. Its such a blessing. Gail, Your making me think. I never suspected acid buildup as the culprit, I always assumed that I didnt have enough acid to digest my food. Acid indigestion did cross my mind recently though because I noticed a sour feeling in my throat and I wondered...

Usually around 9:30, no matter what I had for dinner. I start to feel hungry for carbs, very hungry. So hungry that I feel that I have no choice but to eat something starchy. Lately Ive been eating gluten-free bread with some goat cheese. Like clock work around 2:30-3:00 am I wake up in a sweat with my heart racing and a sick stomach. I dont know what to...

ARCHIVED Scared Of The Endoscope
rutland posted a topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Today I went to the GI doc. a good one. He sceduled me to have an endoscope on my upper GI tract. They gave me the list of possible complications which are scarey. Possible hemorrage or blood transfusion problems, cardiac arrest, perforation of the lining leading to leakage of gastic juices. Even though they list them and say that this is very rare, it just... -

ARCHIVED Gluten Free Supplements
rutland posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I am so pissed. Since I went gluten free in the summer Ive been trying different supplements that will help me with healing and digesting my food better. I always order my supplements from a discount supplier that sells many of the top brands. For that past month I was taking a ginger supplement for digestion, I read all the ingredients and fillers and... -
ARCHIVED Indigestion And Other Awful Symtoms
rutland replied to rutland's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Thank you for all the info. This has been really helpful. I just bought a really reputable and good digestive enzyme and already I notice a difference. It seems that I must be severely deficient in certain enzymes my body needs to digest the food I eat. It literally felt like my body didnt know what to do with the food that was in my stomach and then... -
Ive been dealing with the most awful indigestion symptoms whenever I eat anything. What happens is I get hungry, I sit down and eat, then afterward I feel that the food just sits there and doesnt process. Then I get the chills, nausea, tired, and pain in my back? All I had today was a bowl of veg soup and apple sauce and that just sat in my stomach and...

So... Im asuming that being cold all the time is related to celiac disease. Im gluten free now for 4mos. I guess I need to give it more time. I think that the body may go through many changes once going gluten free, and maybe exacerbates certain symptoms while others get better, and then after the long haul the body readjusts and balances. This is my theory...
