  1. Might have glutened myself. I bought some of the Jamie Oliver branded beef burgers from Woolworths. I checked the allergen statement when I bought them and it says soy and sulphates. After eating I realise breadcrumbs is listed as an ingredient, however in brackets next to that it only says contains soy. Nowhere else in the ingredients list does it list wheat...
  2. I work in a community organisation that provides food for clients. Quite often in the staff room there are left over cakes or savouries. Sometimes I have to try very hard not scream at people who say "oh this all looks nice, but you don't eat this kind of thing do you? I then calmly try to explain that I do but I can't eat those particular ones because...
  3. Always check for may contain with Sunrice. I've picked up a few lately that I thought would be ok but had may contain. Also some of their microwave shelf meals are marked as gluten-free but some while gluten-free by ingredient have a processed on the same line as statement. I picked up one like this for work lunch the other day. I ended up eating due to having...
  4. Some of Aldi rice crackers and potato chips are gluten-free. I don't normally shop there so not sure how long they have been. The rice crackers are labelled gluten-free. The chips weren't but were ok by ingredient. Disappointingly Woolworths Brand Coleslaw now has a may contain statement. It was the only prepared gluten-free one I knew of and they sold it...
  5. Had a slightly frustrating and good experience tonigt. One one of my local cafes has some gluten-free slices in cake cabinet, They also have an menu of light meals. like sandwiches, chips, quiches etc- you know the kind of thing that assume you can't have because it's not labelled as gluten-free or gfo anywhere. Tonight I was in a situation where I needed...
  6. I finally found the bfree wraps. They don't seem to fall apart, although I've eaten them straight away. I really like how soft they are, I'd like a little bit more of a doughy taste but don't think it's really possible with gluten-free stuff and is just a personal taste.
  7. I also spent ages walking around Coles looking for the Weetbix. I just had them plain with milk, think they need some banana or bit of brown sugar but that's just my personal taste. Also need to work on the milk ratio. I vaguely remember that milk used to soak into normal ones but for some reason I didn't think it would with these. I liked them, not enough...
  8. Thanks Sammykins. I think one of those Woolworths stores is nearish to me. I'm not really buying gluten-free bread of any sort at the moment but always good to have more options. I still find it a novelty to go to a supermarket and have a choice of several tasty brands of bread to choose from rather than just picking the most edible of two brands. Must...
  9. Ohh I'm a bit excited. As mentioned in earlier posts, not a cereal person regardless of gluten factor but I do remember liking Weetbix. I'm also intrigued as to what the mystery product will be. A gluten-free version of Up and Go would be brilliant. Planing on finding a Woolworths store that stocks the healthier bites range this weekend. It's kind of a...
  10. I've now eaten all the crumpets. I like them better than the Livwell brand (which are tasty). They weren't as crumpety tasting as I'd like but the top was springy like it should be. I've not figured out the best way to toast them, yet but I think this would improve the texture a bit. Also probably need to use slightly more topping than normal crumpets. Even...
  11. Went out for dinner tonight to a place I'd been once or twice before. Previously I had to ask what I could have there was no indication on the menu as to what was gluten-free. So I was impressed when I opened the menu to find they now indicated their meals as gluten-free or gfo. I ordered a dish and even though it was labelled as gluten-free, I specified...
  12. okay... I googled and found this: Open Original Shared Link It says they are made from sorghum, not sure why but I thought sorghum was a no go.
  13. Hi Hilary. I've never heard of or seen a anything remotely close to gluten-free Weet-Bix unfortunately. I'm not big on cereal regardless of the gluten content but I rekon I would like a gluten-free Weet-bix. Not sure what else your daughter likes but Freedom Foods do a few gluten-free kids cereals. They have a gluten-free fruit loops. They also do some...
  14. Regarding things like the fries- I've learnt to always specify gluten-free even if it is labelled gluten-free rather than gfo. I sort of learnt my lesson years ago with a cafe who said the chai latte was gluten-free, Turned out you needed to specify you wanted the gluten-free one as they then used a different syrup. That's fine but they do need to specify...
  15. I found the Genius Crumpets!. Bit expensive at $9.50 for 4. Not tried them yet but hope they are good. I think the buy 1 get 1 free promotion was on at all Coles stores. I have seen reduced to clear labels on the brand before, one store ( a very small one) did stop stocking the brand but the other didn't. I hope they continue it, always got at least one of...
  16. Coles has some new products. I bought a frozen burrito. They had two sorts, they are from Amy's kitchen, which is I think is a US brand. Not tried it yet but a bit exciting to buy a burrito! They also have some vegetarian meals from The Good meal co. (might have the name slightly wrong but it'd the company who also sells frozen meals in Woolies) In their...
  17. If you live in UK then just ignore all the below as is only about general places. . Was in Blackpool very briefly earlier this year. There is a Pizza Express there, I didn't go to that specific one but tried others throughout England and the gluten-free pizzas are some of the best I've ever tasted, I even had to check the gave me the right one. Otherwise...
  18. You might be right. I actually don't mind it so much in smaller places, it is in the large busy places that it really annoys me as I feel bad for holding up the line and also I am usually with other people when I go, which means it takes longer to order and for the others on my table to get food. I looked for the B-free wraps in Woolworths today but couldn...
  19. I just had a google- they seem to be UK based, The bread looks almost proper bread size! I haven't come across them in my travels but am looking foward to trying them. The more overseas products become available here the more I start to think alot of the products are better than those made here. It might just be my personal taste though as the type of products...
  20. It could be because the fries are coated in flour or they have been cooked in the same vat as something that has gluten, like the fish patties. Check the website- just make sure it is the one for your country as even with brands/products that are world wide the ingredients vary and what may be gluten-free in one country is not in another. I know that Mcdonalds...
  21. paleo restaurants/cafes seem to be popping up a fair bit. Personaly don't see the need to eat like that all the time, but I love the fact that I can go to a paleo place and order anything from a menu as its all gluten-free. At the expo today I tried some potato pastries from simply wize. Its a savoury pastry twist with potato in. I asked where I could buy...
  22. Will have to look out for them. I used to biy the old time bakery ones which were good. The freedom foods ones are awful, rubbery and just funny tasting. On my to brisbane gluten-free expo. It was promoted on the project last night, along with greek festival. Bit of bad planning as the guy promoting the greek thing was talking about all the great food like...
  23. hi. Welcome to the forum. As you might have seen we have a aus/nz thread. There is not as many of us as there used to be but will.try to help you where we can. As previous poster mIentioed, product ingredients can be very different.depending on country they were made in so always mention you are in aus (alternatively post in au/nz thread). A good example...
  24. Woolworths have a new created with Jamie Oliver range. It includes bakery/dessert ranges soups and predone meat things. Obviously the bakery stuff is out and I haven't checked the soups. However alot of the meat things seem to be gluten-free. Of the five things I looked at only one seemed to contain gluten. The downside is they are expensive but at least...
  25. I was Dublin last year. They have wagamama which is an Asian fusion place. Mostly the options end up been rice noodles and meat/veg without the sauces but they are still tasty. There is a place called the counter, which did gluten free burgers when I was there. Also a few restaurants around Temple Bar area that serve gluten-free.
