ARCHIVED Australians And New Zealanders Hellooooooo :)

Also had cold Crumpets in the UK, although due to not having a toaster at all. Have tried the english muffins, they aren't quite the same as what I remember normal ones tasting but still delicious and make a tastier breakfast than bread. Can't wait to try the crumpets next! There are number of other products in that range in UK, including little apple pies... -

OHHHHH! Have just looked at the Coles website and it seems that they are also doing Crumpets! Ridonkulusy excited about this. The downside is that I can't seem to find the Bellyhoo pies listed anywhere. Just when it's gotten cold enough to enjoy them! -

All of those who can need to rush of to your local Coles and buy the gluten-free English Muffins they have started selling. They are the latest addition to the the Livwell range, which include pita and bread roles. They Muffins are $7 for a pack of 4 but I don't know of anywhere else in the country that sells them. (unless you are lucky enough to be Sydney... -

Think I have posted about this before but a lot of Woolworths marinated meats are gluten-free, even the ones that they don't label. They have a new range that includes cottage pie, lamb cassorole and beef stew, some of them are ok for us. Of course you can make your own but sometimes you just don't have time or it's helpful to know what is ok have when explaining... -

Kind of know what you mean. I used to have thoughts along the lines of what if they got my results mixed up. I know that eating a lot of gluteny food makes me ill but still have thought of what if it something else common in gluten foods (dunno what) or if I had one those conditions that meant I could safely have a bit. -
Unless it has changed in the last month or two it is. As I mentioned in a previous post there is a product sold in Australia called Marmite but this slightly different to the UK version and not gluten free. Remember when posting about a particular product it is often helful to add in which country you are in. This helps to avoid confusion as in the...

I'm not sure where you are from but you need to be very very careful with MARMITE. Marmite sold in Australia made by sanitarium is NOT gluten free, this version is sold in a large jar with a orange lid. However the English version of Marmite which is sold in some supermarkets here is gluten free. This version is in a small boulbus shaped jar with a yellow...

Yea, in some ways I wish I hadn't been diagnosed until I was older. I'd always been alowed to cheat very very rare ocassions, I was never sensitive. Anyway when I got to about 15 I started to wonder what a lot of things tasted like, so I started cheating regularly. This was about 10 years ago before a lot of the nice or replacements foods we have now. Sometimes... -

Can definetly understand that. If not eating gluten makes you well then it doesn't matter if it is official or not. I was really to young to understand when I was diagnosed what it really meant. I think though for me if I was going through diagnoses now, I would want something to say the allergy was postive (whatever it was). Even if not having something... -

For those of you who got negative results on the blood tests, did you also fail an edoscopy? Many years ago they used to say that the endoscopy was the truiest way to diagnose Coeliac. The technology incovled in testing has greatly improved but I heard of people who test negative to the blood test but positive to the endoscopy. It will only diagnose Coeliac... -

I find that kind of interesting. I'm not a sensitive Coeliac, I used to be able to have a sandwich or two on normal bread most weeks and sometimes something else as well. In addition I didn't pay much attention to what was in spreads or sauces. However from what I've read, it is a bit like smoking. Just because it doesn't effect you today doesn't mean... -

That's good. I've noticed in recent times that gluten-free stuff in both Coles and Woolies is on special more often. Freedom Foods are one brand that is usually very reasonable when on special. Have seen recently in coles more and more fresh heat and eat meals. I don't think any are gluten-free. I thought there might be one which was satay chicken things... -

There used to be one or two of the weight watchers ones that were ok but then they helpfully decided to put wheat in them. Really annoys me when companies do this - I used to buy Nice and Natural nut bars all the time and then changed the recipe to have wheat. I managed to get some food from England and am currently enjoying a PROPER crumpet from Tesco... -

Have been looking into frozen meals and just ended up getting cranky. Some of the roast ones would be ok if they just made the gravy/sauce differently. Surely making them from a corn base wouldn't cost that much more. More people could buy so it would even out. The Woolies curries can be frozen but they are really expensive. Just be nice to have something... -

Be careful doing that. We have some very strict customs laws here. Certain things with dairy products, as the the sauces and powders would be are not allowed in. -

Yea. I just always found it odd that they list things that have gluten rather than those that don't. I guess it's a good way of doing it. The menu suggests that the other items are ok without them claiming they are gluten-free, which means they don't have to worry about making someone sick with cc. I would imagine they could manage it fairly well because... -

Does anyone ever eat at Nandos? According to their nutrition info the chips and some of the chicken products are ok. It would be handy to sometimes to be able to get some chicken and chips. I eat at other take away places but always been a bit cautious of Nandos, for no good reason. -

I might have asked this time before, but can't remember which thread and don't want to search all of them. Has anyone tried the products from Choices gluten free? particulary interested in the english muffins and bagels. Finding breakfast hard at the moment. I've gone off the bread as toast and am not much of cereal person gluten-free or not. I often... -

woolworths have brought out their own version of chezels and twisties. The "twistes" come in a chicken flavour and a cheese one. I tried the chicken ones and they're great! They have less of a cornt taste than the ajitas version. Looking foward to trying the chezels next! -

I don't like Mince Pies gluten-free or not. It'd be nice to see some gluten-free versions of all the different cake types. Especially the Chocolate bombs which seem to have made an appearance this year! Also some the english cadburys cake and biscuits look good. I see some Schar panetone or stollen online but it was $15. What brand of gravy does everyone... -

I tried one of the currys from passage foods. It was ok. I prefer pataks, although not labeled as gluten-free a lot of their products are. I think passage have just expanded the range, maybe I will try one of their non curries. I was slightly dissapointed with the lack of Christmas food around this year, but I found out that coles branded rum balls are... -

I think some of Weis Sorbets are gluten-free/df. And I think the majority of their other ice cream is gluten free. The bellyhoo pies are great. I love the cherry one. The beef burgandy is good as well, although personally would prefer a bit more gravy/sauce. They are a bit pricey but unfortunatly if companys aren't supported they won't continue to make the... -

Fairly sure Wollies do stock a brand of polenta that isn't processed on a line with anything. Got to admit not been sensitive I do sometimes eat things that say processed on the same line as wheat products. Mostly when I'm traveling. I try not to but sometimes it's a choice between that and something that actauly has wheat in it. -

yea. I find coles not only have a bigger range but are a bit more consistant with what gluten-free they do sell. Also noticed recently that Woolworths stores are going into alot of organic/nut free foods, most of them however aren't gluten-free but they are all mixed in the one section. Coles have do have non gluten-free products in the same asile but they...
