    ARCHIVED London

London is good for gluten-free. I've been twice. On my second trip I found a whole foods near Picciadilly- I'd read that they have good gluten-free but was dissapointed in the end. The food hall at Slefridges has some good gluten-free stuff. Also there is a little Bakery in Brixton Market that only do gluten-free. I went about 10am and they literally...
  2. For those who eat the Pure Bred range- In coles today I noticed two new versions, a fruit bread and a chia seed loaf. I got the Chia one. I had orginally picked up a loaf of genius bread. The first time ever that I have thought about which gluten-free bread I actually I wanted to buy! They also had the livwell white Rolls on special so was a tough choice...
  3. Last time I checked the Tikka Masla and chicken Satay were also ok. There might be a few more but the info is hard to find online and there is only so many I can check in the supermarket without getting frozen fingers!
  4. Had the butter chicken for lunch- it's really good.
  5. Open Original Shared Link The above are a new line of frozen meals- found them in Wollies tonight. They cost $7. Slightly cheaper than some other specially gluten-free ones, just a bit annoying because the same company has sold a butter chicken for about $4 for a long time, which from memory was ok by ingredient but had the may contain warning. Think...
  6. Tonight for my dinner I had CRUMBED chicken s$#&znel that I bought from Woolworths. I found them in the fresh meat setion. No idea how long they've had them because they in the part of the fridge I don't check because they never have anything. They are hard to spot because the packaging is the same as the gluten one, except it says gluten free. Anyway they...
  7. Has anyone tried the new gluten-free bread been sold in Woolworths? I think it is called burgeon? Saw it the other night but couldn't get a good 'feel' for it due to packaging
  8. I don't live in Melbourne so can't really help much with eating out. Crust Pizza, Grill'd and Muffin break mentioned above are national chains though and still offer gluten-free. I don't think we have gluten-free chex here. There a gluten free cereal available in the health food section of supermarkets. Freedom foods has a large variety, they also do...
  9. Hmm getting reservations about the new Coles range. One of my local stores has simply gluten-free branded chicken tender and beef pies and surprise surprise the bellyhoo and bayview ranges have been reduced to clear. The pies don't look as nice as the bellyhoo ones and really aren't much cheaper. They also had pizza bases which is great because you can't...
  10. Have a look at Open Original Shared Link. It will give you an idea of what is available. You can click on most things and it brings up the ingredient list and also allergy statements. It would still be an idea to check packaging when you buy products though. Premade salads and vege are widely avaialble but can contain croutons or vege may be coated in flour...
  11. I suggest you alll stop whatever you are doing right now and rush down the local Coles to see if they are stocking Genius bread. I just found some in the frozen section (where they have patties/bellyhoo). For anyone not aware it is Uk based brand. I tried the bread when I was over there a few years ago and is one of the best gluten-free breads I've ever...
  12. Coles have realeased a range of their own brand gluten-free products. Not sure if this is good thing or not, it will depend if they stop selling other brands. A bit of internet search reveals that there are are around 30 products in the range. Some of seems to be packet mix stuff that are available in other brands and biscuits. Most exciting of what I've...
  13. Shame about Cadbury- really going to miss the peppermint chocolate. Does anyone know of any mint chocolate bars that are ok? Preferably just 'regular" ones rather something I buy in health food section. It must be hard for companies sometimes to have either seperate line or fail safe wash down procedures but if they did it would mean more people could buy...
  14. Open Original Shared Link. Then click on the link on the right titled media response. (for some reason I can't post direct link) From what I can work out Coeliac Australia is for the change as it would increase options and hopefully reduce cost. I think that the under 20pp used to be standard in Australia and then it changed. They definetly tightened...
  15. Enjoyed the expo although I think it has been better other years. For me there was a lack of ready made stuff. Although that not really the expos fault- that is just the way the market is. I work full time and have another medical condition that often makes feel unwell and not able to cook things up, even if it is a packet mix. Also there is no one for me...
  16. I also! I love the fact that I can go around to all stalls and try everything or just buy something without having to ask or check ingredients. A lot of the exhibitors often have deals where it things are a bit cheaper than in the shops. It's still easy to spend lots of money, but I think it is worth it as some of the things are available aren't easy to find...
  17. For anyone who has bought the heat and eat "fresh" curries friom Wooloworths, be aware that some of them are now NOT gluten-free. I nearly bought one tonight thinking it was just the packaging that had changed. I picked one up just to see what flavours were in it and noticed the contains gluten statement. I checked some of the other and they seemed ok- no...
  18. I was only 6. I found it really hard when I was in my teens, I would cheat alot, I wasn't sensitive so I could cheat a fair bit before getting ill. I find it fairly easy now. There is a lot more available nowdays. I remember when you could only buy two types of gluten-free sweet bisuits- one tasted slightly better than the other but still had taste. There...
  19. I went to Aldi tonight and found a bunch of things from their Has No range. I bought chocolate cake mix, rice porridge and instant chicken flavoured noodles. Only tried the noodles so far. They are pretty good. They didn't all stick together like the fantastic ones do. Also they don't taste as salty to me. They also had sweet and savoury biscuits and...
  20. There doesn't seem to be many of us left here at all.
  21. For anyone who was watching Good Chef Bad Chef this morning the Lasagne they made was not gluten-free as they put spelt flour in. It's a pre recorded show so there really shouldn't be any excuse. Just unacceptable.
  22. According to their website they are gluten-free. Check medication boxes carefully, it is often written on them somewhere- just not anywhere obvious. As with foods, it is best to always check each time that the product is still ok. Also when checking websites for ingredients ensure it is the site for whatever country you are buying the product from. Also...
