Saz replied to AkBravo34's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
I made up some pasta salad this week. I used penne, I like the San remo one but I dont know if its available outside Australia. You basically cook the pasta and and toss it together with whatever takes your fancy. I added carrots, peas celery and onion and I par cooked them. I made a dressing using gluten-free mayonaise, seeded mustart and lemon juice. ... -

Does anyone know of a nice cocoa that can be used for hot chocolate? I have cadbury Bourniville at the moment but I think it is intended more for cooking. Im thinking of making some spiced hot chocolate mix for presents but figure I should taste them myself first. -

I tired the supreme pizza. I was a little disapointed there was basically no cheese on it. It tastes nice around the edges as they were crispy ( Mostly because I left in the oven to long) however in the middle I found it a bit moist. -

Has anyone found the patties products yet? We probably have a little longer to wait yet, going by how long it took for the Freedom Foods range to appear. Also has anyone else found with the chicken tenders that the crumb kind of comes apart from the meat? -
ARCHIVED Question For Australian Celiacs
Saz replied to SydneyMichey's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
I think it is possibly a case of lack of education. Things are moving in baby steps. Up until around 2-3 years you were lucky if you could find a place that offered gluten-free. I that the issue of cc etc means that the food is not safe, however the fact that its offered is at least one step foward. -
ARCHIVED Ive Been Cheating On My Diet..please Help
Saz replied to Speedy's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
Rice can be cooked up in chicken or some other kind of stock to give it a different flavour. (of course check it gluten-free) Also there are some treats that you can make yourself that aren't all that expensive. Last year I made biscuits that consisted on crushed nuts and melted chocolate- unfortunetly I have misplaced the recipe. -

The patties range isn't released untill next week. Only the Franklins stores in NSW are stocking the Freedom Foods. I hope that coles will have have them in stock soon, I know that sometimes when you order in a specific item, you need to to do it in bulk- I just don't have the storage space for this. I am going away in a few days and it would have... -

tracy*- I don't know of any noodles but Orgran have a packet of tomato pasta, it says it ready in 8 minutes, I'm not sure how common it as I've only seen it one shop. Basco also have a Mac and Chesse and fettuicine however I don't know if they are yeast free and to be honest don't taste the best. For those of you who are able to get products from the gluten... -

Good to know thats its not just my coles. The last time I checked was Friday. The only reason I thought they may be delayed in hitting the shops was if the products were not available to order before March 1, if this was the case I would expect them to be in store by the end of this week, although I wouldn't have thought that it would take 3 weeks for them... -

There is a thread in one of the other sections on Patack's products, I have been trying to find info on what products we can have here, as I know that these things are often different depending on what country you are in. The only information I can find however is seven years old , so I don't really trust it. Anyway I'm just wondering if anyone knows... -

As I understand it you must be dx by a doctor to become a member of your state society. The accepted forms of dx are the blood test or endoscopy( I think) You may be able to try your local Library, they may have copies of the magazine, I know have seen ones from other similar groups. This is kind of late as it is nearly the end of the week, however... -

Unfortunately the Freedom foods range is only available at Coles, at least according to all advertisements I have seen. As far as I can tell from the ad I have the dairy free ones are- Crumbed fish fillets, Salmon cakes, Fish bites and chicken tenders. One thing I do like about Freedom foods is that fact they label on the front products, it is very handy... -

Also- I went to Wendy's and was told that the only sorbet we can eat is the green apple - Please just check this tho, I think the server was right as I intitialy asked about another flavour... -

I got the latest copy of The Ausralian Coeliac today and and there are some very nice looking products advertised so I thought I'd come and share! Firstly Muffin Break are advertising a range of savoury muffins- if they are as good their sweet ones they will be well worth it! Be sure to ask tho as I think they do normal ones, however they always have a... -

Just been having a browse on the freedom foods website and it say that their frozen range is available from the 1st week of March ( so this week). They are available from Coles Nationally and Franklins in NSW. They have crumbed chicken pieces and fish fillets, pizza, donuts, as well as a few other things. Hoping to try the chicken this week if Coles... -

Does anyone know if the little bars of Kinder chocolate are ok? Obviously the Burnero(sp) aren't but I not sure about the others. -
Nut bars are a good option, you could also try nuts, or gluten-free pretzels or cornchips. I also like flavoured rice crackers.

I'm fairly sure that the sauce in Australia is safe, It is not only the fries that depend on which country you live in but other things as well.

Hey, if you like something that your actually allowed to eat thats great! I tired some brown rice bread a few months ago and found it to be one of the better gluten-free breads, however I have found these nice wraps so have them instead of bread, I do however sometimes get this nice fruit bread. I have catergories of gluten-free food. 1. That's...
