  1. Welcome Allyson- don't worry about it! And don't go back to lurking! This is a good place and I think gfp just wanted to warn you before other people jumped on you (looks like that happened anyway). We're glad you're here and ASK AWAY Michi8- that has GOT to be the funniest avatar I have ever seen! Where can I get it? Will they make one I can paste...
  2. Hi Steve!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It took a lot not to write a nasty letter but I figured it would be counter-productive!
  3. H Pylori is the bacteria that causes ulcers I believe. I think it's treated with antibiotics. I know other people have said it, and I don't want to disrespect your doctor if you have faith in him/her but I had 2 GI's, one who was very familar with Celiac say that it was definitely NOT celiac too. They put me through a gazillion tests from a CT scan to...
  4. Check these out: Open Original Shared Link Open Original Shared Link Open Original Shared Link I love snopes!
  5. She is the sweetest little rodent. I had such a sweet experience with an elderly gentleman in the supermarket about a year ago. I was in line with probably ten items (the express line) but he only had a gallon of milk so I told hm to go in front of me. No big deal. as he's leab=ving, he turns and hands me a card that says: I Said a Prayer for You...
  6. As I said in 7th grade: Duh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Jestgar, why won't pizza open for me?
  7. Dear (Insert name): I am writing this letter in the hopes that you will share it with your managers and staff; I want people to be aware of what happens when a person who orders off the gluten-free menu and a mistake is made. As you know I ate at your restaurant on January 31st and became ill. In my conversation with the manager there, he assured me...
  8. I know, I've NEVER had a problem at any of their other locations. Corporate contacted me and the woman I talked to said, if you order off the gluten-free menu, a manager should always deliver your food. This NEVER happens at the Peabody location. She said refuse any food that is not delivered by a manger as it is their responsibility. Here's the letter...
  9. Thanks Linda- well said! I think I am going to write a letter to him, ask him to show it to everyone that works there and CC it (no not cross-contaminate it, except maybe with avian bird flu!) to corporate explaining what it's REALLY like to get glutened including the long term and neuro effects. I'll post it here if you want one I get unbrainfogged enough...

  12. OK this is cool. Open Original Shared Link Hey you- I'm a yew!
  13. Thanks for posting that (love the one taco short of combo platter ). I definitely think that there is much more to celiac than some know. I've always been surprised that we are just treated by GI's since for many of us there are neuro manifestations. I always thought that celiac should have a team approach in treatment .
  14. OK- I must be an idiot. I've eaten at this one location three times since I've been gluten-free (2 years) and EVERY TIME I have gotten glutened. Yesterday I ate there after a trying day, figuring it had been almost a year since the last incident, so it would probably be OK. I ordered the seafood casserole with gluten-free bread crumbs and today I am so...

Hi Richard, hi Susie Q! I am actually quite a...
  16. Welcome Janie! I have been in a similar position as you. I was diagnosed by positive dietary response, slightly elevated bloodwork initially. I went gluten-free for 2 months before my biopsy, back on gluten for 10 days (what a joke- it didn't damage a thing but made me sooooooo sick). I don't understand why, if you have a positive dietary response,...

Richrad, hope you don't mind I must say the women's waiting area for a mammogram is quite humorous. But inside I had a good laugh. So, their taking different "views" and...
  24. BA HA HA HA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Well the results are in...sorry I'm so late in posting but there was a celebratory lunch at Legal Sea Foods including a celebratory Pomer-ita (con tequila!) followed by a LONG celebratory nap So, the good news is no tumor, no cyst but one sore and slightly swollen lymph node!
