Keila- I had to revisit this because it really concerns me that you think the *ONLY* possibility is CC from the computer. It's absolutely possible but is this how your daughters normally react to gluten? Did your daughters not was their hands before eating? I would not feed my children eggs again until this is ruled out as an allergy -
ARCHIVED How Do You Talk To Doctors?
Mtndog replied to honeypond's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
After having two BAD experiences, I write out a full medical history (of myself) including important events and the dates they occurred/began. I write a list of my current concerns and then follow it with a list of questions I want answered in THAT appointment. It has helped (I bring a copy for the doc and myself) but I'm SURE there are doctors that... -

Mtndog replied to jerseyangel's topic in Super Sensitive People
last I checked only the rice crust pizzas and the gluten-free mac and cheese were made in a dedicated facility. I have not tried the mac and cheese but LOVE throwing a bunch of stuff (veggies, meat) on them! One of my favorites! Everyone is definitely on a different path! But what you just described sounds like an ALLERGIC reaction- not a gluten... -

ARCHIVED What Should I Have Said Differently?
Mtndog replied to Hummingbird4's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
You've gotten some good replies here. I agree with most- I would tell her you're sorry if she was offended but that you HAVE to be safe rather than sorry because you are not willing to get sick and (maybe give her some of your grosser symptoms ). -
ARCHIVED What Are 'nightshades'?
Mtndog replied to wilem008's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Nightshades include peppers, potatoes, eggplants, tobacco. Open Original Shared Link They seem to cause inflammation in some people. Some doctors recommend that people with arthritis stay away from them. I know there are several people on this board that have problems with them. People can be fructose intolerant too. I *think* you can get tested for... -
Just wanted to post that I went to Foxwoods with my dad and sister and had another god experience. We ate at Cedars Steakhouse and I had an amazing salad and shrimp dish. They are very gluten-free aware. They also opened a David Burke steakhouse and a Burke-in-the-Box where I've eaten before in NYC and not had a problem. This time I as even able to...

ARCHIVED "Super Sensitive" Celiacs.....
Mtndog replied to jerseyangel's topic in Super Sensitive People
Yes- in the beginning I thought I got glutened by peanut butter!!!!! Jif I believe- turns out I am intolerant to legumes and Jif contains 2- peanuts and soy! Also, I used to react to MANY of Amy's products (they once batch tested and I had reacted to 33 ppm!) but since they started their dedicated facility for certain products I can now eat their pizza... -

Mtndog replied to jerseyangel's topic in Super Sensitive People
Sigh. Mike- Can you be more specific? Which brands have you reacted to? Do you have any documentation to back this up? Have you spoken to any companies? I think you've learned more about what YOU react to- it varies with individual- not ncessarily just gluten. I'd hate (as a former new member and moderator)... -
I'm being checked for it too! I freaked out at first but it now may make sense- the hyper-pigmentation (my latest scar is black!), the fatigue, but I have other issues too so I'll keep you posted. Chronic low sodium is also a sign!

I struggle with night temperatures too. For me it's thyroid and Lyme but I bet as you heal your body will readjust. When I got diagnosed with celiac my average body temp was 93! Yet, I would be hot after as little as 10 minutes n bed. It's really frustrating, but give it some time. If it doesn't get better see your doctor.

ARCHIVED Purple Jasmine Rice
Mtndog replied to KarenFe's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
That is a tough question to answer! Some are, some aren't, someone overly CYA (cover their butts). Glutinous definitely means sticky though so if they said it's gluten-free, you should be OK. Purple rice sounds cool! I once had Peruvian purple potatoes! -

Judy- Hope your appt goes well! Bathing with an earl, eh? Ok two jokes: Revenge is Sweet There once was an old couple who had been married for thirty years.
