  1. Ps. Everyone diagnosed by Enterolab has gluten sensitivity genes. There is a thread about that somewhere on the board.
  2. I too have had my child tested through Enterolab. What the previous poster said was ABSOLUTELY 100% correct. Enterolab cannont diagnosis Celiac and they will tell you that themselves. They look for antibodies to gluten, but cannot prove it's Celiac. Also, I think some of us who have used Enterolab question their validity. Dr. Fine has not published any...
  3. PS. Just re-read it again. If her reactions are that quick w/ vomitting, I think you HAVE your answer and diagnosis. I'm not sure if it's good or bad, but Thomas' reactions aren't that clear cut. Sorry for the three posts!! Have a great night!
  4. Just read your new post. Sounds like you've decided against the challenge. I'm glad you're feeling better, and I hope the gene test will bring you even more peace of mind. Hang in there!!!
  5. Char, I know this is hard, but follow your gut. It's a huge decision to make for a child and I know we have talked about this before. One VERY important thing I wanted to tell you about the gluten challenge is that a gluten challenge is meant for a biopsy, not a blood test. The blood test will not show abnormalities as quick as the biopsy. Also, if you...
  6. was your tTG positive?
  7. the labs levels vary. they all have different ranges.
  8. Go to the Chicago Celiac Research website for good accurate info. It also talks about the Celiac screen. Good luck!
  9. I totally agree w/ Chrissy, you should have had the tTG. The EMA is very specific to Celiac, but not very sensitive. Meaning, if you're positive, it's definitely Celiac, but if negative there's a good chance it could be false negative. The sensitivity of the EMA is no where close to that of the tTG. The two main tests you should have had run are the tTG...
  10. I see you originally posted back in November. Did you have the biopsy done by Dr. Green. Was that "THE" Dr. Green at Columbia University. Love to know how your story played out.
  11. Disregard my last post. I think I'm having brain fog. I thought you were talking about AGA, the Anti-gliadin panels. So sorry. I don't know anything about ANA. I apologize again.
  12. The ANA blood tests are not specific to Celiac and are not usually performed when testing for Celiac anymore. There are many other conditions that can elevate ANA tests. Have your doc run a tTG, EMA, and total IgA. This will narrow down the cause of your problems and hopefully give you a more definitive answer. Even if those are all negative, you could...
  13. Everyone's different. You can severe symptoms initially and then heal, go back on gluten and feel nothing. Everyone is so different. This happened to my friends daughter. She was biopsy proven. Now, the symptoms are back a few years later.
  14. PS. What are the pain pills that were eating his liver?
  15. It only takes one slice of bread a day to keep enough gluten in your system to prepare for a biopsy. Do you know what on his panel came back positive. I would find out. If his tTG was really high, you won't have any problem finding damage. The higher the number, the worse the damage. If his EMA was positive, then that is 100% specific to Celiac and I...
  16. Hey Tina, We had Thomas in to see Dr. Guandalini last week and he noticed that Thomas' teeth were starting to show dental enamel defects. Dr. Peter Green's book among many others also talk about dental enamel defects.
  17. To reiterate, YOU DON'T OUTGROW CELIAC. PERIOD. Good luck.
  18. Now that she's been gluten free for 2 months, the biopsy would not be accurate. If positive it would be acceptable, but if negative, it could be falsely negative because she healed on the gluten-free diet. You need to be eating gluten in order to see the inflammation and damage. You would have to do a gluten challenge for a few months. If you saw no improvement...
  19. PS. There is a medicine that can help treat them that your doc can prescribe. A dental paste and some other thing.
  20. There is a difference between apthous ulcers/canker sores and cold sores. I noticed that you said your son's sore is on his face. It sounds like a cold sore/fever blister. Those are more viral and can also be caused by the herpes virus, any virus, or stress. Apthous ulcers that go along w/ Celiac are on the inside of the mouth; Gum line, inside of lips...

  22. Please don't think I'm not empathetic to your situation. I am. I just correspond with a wonderful person on here who happens to be a doctor. She is very knowledgable and tries to help whenever she can. We've been dealing with these issues with my son for over a year and we're on our 7th doctor. I have found two wonderful doctors through our journey whom...
  23. Rachael and Angie both make great points. If you EMA is positive, it's almost never a false positive. tTG can be false positive in other autoimmune disorders involving thyroid, liver, and most of all type 1 Diabetes. The AGA tests aren't even used in diagnosing Celiac anymore because they don't have the specificity. Celiac is a condition where complications...
  24. Yes. There is a whole chapter on DH.

    ARCHIVED Dr. Guandalini?

The info I found on the T-cell Non-Hodgkins lymphoma was in Dr. Peter Green's book. It's called Celiac Disease, A Hidden Epidemic. This is a great book that focuses strictly on facts. It's not fluff. Also, I just typed in Celiac and Non-Hodgkins lymphoma and a ton of info came up. Of course, it's like anything, just because you have it doesn't necessarily...
