  1. I did do a check of all my shampoo, soap, deodorant, toilet paper, paper towels, laundry and dish soap, and toothpaste. I don’t use make up or lotions, they tend to bother me. When I first started the gluten free diet, I was sort of scared, so I stuck with a meat and vegetable diet. My usual was natural boneless, skinless chicken breasts, steamed vegetables: ...
  2. I guess I will add my "Me too" to the list. Chemicals have always bothered me. I also have sensitivity to any and all make-up, and perfumes. I get physically sick. Most household chemicals make me break out, and I have difficulty breathing. I did see an allergist about 6 years ago, and found out I was allergic to literally everything he tested me for. Of...
  3. I will try and make this as short as possible, but even in written form I am long winded. I am frustrated, irritated, and just down right tired. I am not even too sure where to start. As I posted in my introduction post, due to being sick I lost my job, and my insurance. The COBRA was so expensive I could not afford the 700.00 a month premium. My regular...
  4. Elfkin, I just wanted to say THANK YOU!!!! Tonight my husband and I went to his cousins for an early Thanksgiving dinner. They knew about my Celiac and really did try to accommodate my restrictions. I told them I would bring some desserts and my deviled eggs. I made your pumpkin bars last night (my only change was I added some Xanthan gum). I...
  5. Hi Stef-Ani And welcome to our little corner of paradise. I too was recently diagnosed (August of this year). I have a sister who was diagnosed last year, and I thought I had a handle on it, but I have to say I was very overwhelmed. It will be okay. As everyone else has said take a deep breath and relax it will get better. As so many others have said...
  6. Thank you, I never thought about the amount of soy. This is the first time I have had any soy sauce since going gluten free. Altough I didn't use a lot, it may just be my body couldn't tolerate the small amount I did get. Thank you all so much for your suggestions.
  7. Has anyone else tried to Wal-Mart Great Value Soy Sauce? It says gluten free on the label, so I bought some last week. Now I am wondering if it really is gluten free. I made fried rice and lo mein last night and used the Great Value Gluten Free Soy Sauce. Last night I started to feel SICK. Today I can hardly handle the stomach cramps, diarrhea and just...
  8. I just wanted to say thank you everyone for your words of encouragement. As I stated earlier, I have learned so much. Everyday I call my sister with another tidbit about celiac I learned here. Thank you all.
  9. Since I have posted a couple of times I should introduce myself. I am 36, and I was diagnosed with celiac disease August 17, 2006. I had to make my own diagnoses and then force the doctor to give me the test. I guess I should start at the middle (the beginning would just bore you all). In 1999 I had gall bladder surgery, and after the surgery is when...
  10. I get those pains often. I have had them on and off for 6 years. I had it so bad once I passed out at work. Dr. thought it was gyno problem ( had some things that were presenting as that) and had a hysto. Dr. thought pain would go away but it didn't. Then when I was diagnosed with celiac disease, and went gluten free the pain subsided quite a bit. I spoke...
  11. I am in Portland, TN. It is just North of Nashville.
  12. I just had to post to this one. Recently diagnosed Celiac, first time poster. My sister and 2 nieces also have it. I have only been able to find these in a little health food store in Evansville IN ( I go through there to get to my sisters'). I usually have to pay about 7.00 or 8.00 dollars for them. They are excellent. I always save some back and use...
