ARCHIVED 3 Year Old Acts "drunk" For Hours: Symptom?
Juliebove replied to D-borealis's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
This is exactly how I wound up with complications from diabetes. Dr. said I had diabetes, then sent me on my merry way. No meds, no nothing. Husband called and talked to him and he told husband that he never told me that I had diabetes! So I saw another Dr. but one from the same medical group. She had me do a 24 hour urine collection then said I didn... -
ARCHIVED gluten-free For 6 Years, Worse Than Ever. Help! New Person Here: )
Juliebove replied to gluteymommy's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia. I know some will dispute this but I believe it is only a symptom. In my case it was a thyroid symptom. Mine was at the worst when I was hyperthyroid and I was hyperthyroid only because my idiotic Endo. kept me on a high dose of thyriod meds that as it turns out, I did not need. I still get the occasional Fibro flare... -
I once had to leave my daughter with my mom for a little while, while I had a flat tire repaired. Daughter was sick to her stomach at the time but now I can't remember why or if we even figured out why. For many years she was sick to her stomach a lot. Although she doesn't have celiac, she had a gluten as well as a wheat intolerance. And one of her symptoms...

Oh yes! Food certainly did affect my daughter. When she eats her intolerances, she feels so unwell, she can not concentrate in school. Alas before we knew of the bad foods, she felt unwell all of the time. School tried to tell me that she had ADD. I thought otherwise because my husband and dad have ADHD. They still tried to tell me that she had it. ... -
And what the heck is mild gluten sensitivity? In my mind there is nothing mild about it!

ARCHIVED 3 Year Old Acts "drunk" For Hours: Symptom?
Juliebove replied to D-borealis's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Indeed! And if he really did think it was that... Why did he not prescribe a meter and strips so that the blood sugar could be tested? It's not like it was when I was a kid. We had no meters and we were diagnosed by symptoms alone. -
ARCHIVED Do People Try To Make You Prove Your Intolerance?
Juliebove replied to Juliebove's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
At 2 I could make my own toast. At 3 I made scrambled eggs. By 8 I was making my own frosting roses for the cakes that I baked. At 12, my mom turned the cooking over to me. -
ARCHIVED Mc D's gluten-free Burgers & Wendy's Frosty Cone
Juliebove replied to Auntie-Manda's topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants
Hmmm... Rather strange. Do you think they think there is gluten in whey? -
ARCHIVED Do People Try To Make You Prove Your Intolerance?
Juliebove replied to Juliebove's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
Oh yes, the kill you thing! Lots of things won't kill you. But they are not pleasant. I suppose I could stick needles in my eye. That problably won't kill me either. Why do people have to be so extreme? -

Oh yes! I get that too. "It won't hurt you to TOUCH it!" Well, yes. I get a rash. So I won't. -

Juliebove replied to Juliebove's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
Thankfully I don't get a lot of that in real life. I do get some. But I have seen it a lot on the Internet. I don't care if they don't believe in the testing methods I used. I only know that since I stopped eating the various foods, I am no longer sick all the time. Lots of maladies cleared up. So clearly to me, I can't have those foods. -

That multi grain thing really gets me! I can't have rye or oats and daughter can't have flax. If it's multi grain, chances are those things are going to be in there. People also don't get that we won't eat things if we don't know what is in them. -

I avoid most forms of soy because I had a thyroid condition. Although I still have a goiter, I am not hypo or hyper like I used to be. I used to eat a lot of soy too. Some lady handing out samples of something tried to give me one. Can't remember for sure now what it was, but I do think it was shake which I wouldn't have taken even if I could have... -

That white thing makes no sense to me either. We have white aspargus, cauliflower, white radishes, jicama, turnips, rutabaga...I'm probably missing a few things. All low carb. All would fit into that diet. -

Juliebove replied to Auntie-Manda's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Yikes! But I do know that a lot of vegans turn to rice or corn pasta because it is usually egg free. Not always though. I have seen gluten-free pasta with eggs. That was one reason I ate it. Gluten isn't my issue but I can't have eggs. I knew if I ordered pasta in a restaurant that it might be cooked in the same water with egg containing pasta. But... -

Oh yes. My dad kept buying things that said gluten-free but they had eggs or soy or dairy, all of which daughter couldn't eat. -

People don't seem to know what vegan is either. Or vegetarian. Can't tell you how many times people will say that they are or they know someone who is vegetarian but they eat fish. One woman even said that vegetarians actually do eat meat so long as it is in tiny pieces mixed into something and not just a piece of meat like a steak or chicken breast. -
ARCHIVED 3 Year Old Acts "drunk" For Hours: Symptom?
Juliebove replied to D-borealis's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I agree on taking her to the Dr. I have read of some rare cases where a person's stomach produces its own alcohol, making the person drunk. I can't remember what this is called and I don't know if it applies here. It could be a stroke or some kind of seizure. I wouldn't wait! Also agree on videotaping it if it is something that might not present at the... -

ARCHIVED Has Anyone Done The Rotation Diet? Obstacle
Juliebove replied to CaliSparrow's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I tried this with my daughter but it didn't seem to help anything and was far more trouble than it was worth. Her friend was on it too and she and her mother found it to be too much trouble. Eventually they just gave up. -
ARCHIVED Upset Stomach - Gluten Or Stress?
Juliebove replied to addmoms's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Stress can cause stomach problems. I first noticed this when my MIL and then 13 year old nephew came with me to Cape Cod to help us move into our new military housing. Nephew made it his career to bug the crap out of my MIL and he actually literally did. He sent her flying to the bathroom on more than one occasion. I had never seen anything like it! ... -
ARCHIVED Help Making Gluten Free Garlic Knots?
Juliebove replied to thompson94's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
I would go with the blobs if it were me. Gluten free dough does tend to be sticky and soft and doesn't have the same sort of texture as gluten dough does. I have made gluten free soft pretzels. They bear no resemblence to wheat pretzels. I used some sort of mix to make them and am not sure that the stuff is still being made. So not sure what went...- 7 replies

ARCHIVED Ketotifen Fumarate And Other Mast Cell Stabilisers
Juliebove replied to foam's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
I have been taking IgG for some time now and also HCL and some sort of black pepper supplement whose name escapes me. Either starts with a "b" or a "p". It's supposed to help you absorb the rest of your vitamins better. I am currently sick and not sure what it is. Started off like cold with the runny nose and mysterious tickle/itch somewhere between the... -
ARCHIVED Too Limited Diet, And Still Sick. Not Sure What To Do...
Juliebove replied to madminx's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
I do not claim to be an expert on anything but I am diabetic. I know plenty of diabetics who eat low carb. Some to the extreme of only eating carbs in the form of non-starchy vegetables and limited portions at that. I am not one of those people. But I do have to limit the amount of carbs I eat so as not to have high blood sugar. I still do have high...
