  1. Yes. I feed mine Now! It's grain free. There are a lot of grain free ones out there but you're not likely to find them at the grocery store. You might even have to try a smaller specialty pet store. Gluten is not an issue for me but I am highly intolerant to eggs. I once got a free can of cat food with eggs in it. Fed it to the cats. One cat licked...
  2. I realize this is an old post but I see more and more gluten-free stuff each time I go in there. They now have bread. Can't remember what brand. And I heard that they had pasta but I haven't seen it at ours. What I buy on a regular basis are paper goods, some produce, some meat, canned vegetables and meats, canned tuna, rice chips, gummy bears, chewing...
  3. Not all food problems are allergies. The nightshades (potatoes) and wheat can cause joint pain. But they are not allergies. I do not have any food allergies. But I do have OAS to a couple of things. What I do have are food intolerances. It is not true that there are no tests for these things. There are tests but they are controversial. One is a blood...
  4. Watch out for the Walmart Great Value. I can't say for sure on the beans but the peas and most anything else I've checked is made on shared lines.
  5. That sounds to me like GERD. You might mention this to your gastroengerologist. You might also have another problem like delayed digestion. I have a dairy intolerance. For me the first sign is big D. If I ignore this and keep on eating it, I will eventually start going through Kleenex like mad and eventually get an ear or sinus infection.
  6. You can not do that here in WA. Not legally anyway. When my dad was on a special diet, my mom would bring in food and have them serve it and we never had a problem. But they really are not supposed to do it.
  7. I find that salads are usually the worst thing to order. I can't tell you how many times I have found a crouton in there. If I were you, I would not eat there. They already told you that the food was not safe. Why would you take the chance? What kind of place is this? Chain? Fancy place? Family place? I find that most places can at least make...
  8. I hear ya. Although gluten isn't a problem for me, there are a lot of other foods that are. I do eat some meat. Not so much by choice but there are so few foods that I can eat and I also tend to go anemic if I don't. I can not have eggs or dairy and this led me to raw vegan which ultimately didn't work for me because I have gastroparesis. Sad because...
  9. You can be allergic to dye. But it is also possible that there was gluten in your mix. I don't personally know of any that contain gluten that are on the market now, but some years back there was a sugar free fruit drink that wasn't gluten free. That drink is still on the market today but it is now gluten free. I remember buying the gluteny ones for...
  10. I used to live on the Cape. Tourist season starts around March/April and continues until about October.
  11. There are many reasons why certain foods could cause you problems. If the foods are raw fruits or vegetables or nuts, and your throat or tongue gets itchy, it could be OAS (oral allergy syndome). With this your body mistakes the food for a pollen. If you do have this, you may be able to eat the foods when it is not allergy season or you may be able to...
  12. I can relate. I say this as I sit here scratching all over. The hives started last night. I just figured it was something in the air and maybe not food.
  13. Corn is not an issue for me but I do have mulitple food allergies. I am getting to the point where I hate dining out because my choices are so limited. I can eat some Mexican food but that probably wouldn't work well for you with the corn thing. But what I order at other places are a plain hamburger patty, plain baked potato, maybe French fries or hash...
  14. Hello sister! We must have the same mother! I grew up with my mom claiming that she was allergic to various things. She would sometimes avoid them for a while and then not. Her claim was that she craved the things she was allergic to. Now whether her issues are true allergies or IgG/intolerances I do not know. I do know that some are intolerances. ...
  15. Many foods contain what is called gluten. Even corn! But... It's not the kind of gluten you have to avoid. And that is from stuff like wheat, barley, malt and rye. That part should be confusing but I know there is a list here somewhere of what is safe and unsafe. There are plenty of mainstream products that are naturally gluten free. Like popcorn...
  16. My daughter is a dancer. What she kept in her locker where Enjoy Life cookies. The two packs. Beef Jerky. Not all of it gluten-free and oddly enough we used to buy it at the bread outlet! Applesauce pouches. Little cups or cans of fruit. Craisins. A shelf stable pudding cup would do but she's not big into pudding. Her studio has a microwave so she...
  17. I'm glad they worked for you. I can't touch the things. Gave me the most horrid stomach pains and gas.
  18. I can relate! In our case it is food intolerances. But her dad said that we went to a witch Dr. and we had made it all up. He kept saying he would take her away from me and stuff her full of all the foods that I wouldn't let her eat. This was when she was 6. She is 14 now. She was afraid to go anywhere with him. But sometimes she would. And he would...
  19. Is Captain Crunch gluten-free? I nearly did myself in the other day. Bought it, ate it then began itching all over. Gluten isn't a problem for me but oats are. Daugher picked up the box and read, "Corn and oats..." And I was like... No, no, no! It's just corn. Right? Wrong. That was why I itched. I do remember eating it. She was on a gluten-free...
  20. What do raw tomatoes do to you? I don't know if tomatoes can cause OAS or not but many fruits, vegetables and even nuts can. Your body mistakes the food for a pollen and you get itching in your mouth or throat from it. My brother and my daughter dislike raw tomatoes because they cause them mouth pains. But they can eat cooked ones with no problem...
  21. Are you sure someone else isn't cross contaminating it? And I too get the big D from lots of foods. I have it now and don't even know why. Gluten isn't even an issue for me. My worst food is eggs. Followed by dairy. I also have issues with rye and oats but not gluten.
  22. You are coming across as being rude to me. And since you are new... There is no one pat answer that will work for all things. Sometimes an item can be gluten-free but then they change the formulation and it no longer is. Not all things can be answered with "yes" or "no". But in this case they can.
  23. Just so you know... Eggs are not dairy. I have always gotten hives easily. Not always a known cause. Dairy does make me sick but I don't have celiac.
  24. I used to buy some at the bread outlet that was gluten-free. Odd place to find it! Can't remember the brand and they quit carrying it.
