  1. yes, i believe it is, i have crohn's disease which was originally thought to be only celiac, but after being gluten-free i was still way sick. . . it sucks! so it turns out i have both....and, to the birth defect thing, i actually have three bones missing in my left hand, but i think that has nada to do with anything
  2. There are def. gluten-free catfoods. out there,, when i find it i will PM you. The LAST thing that was making me sick in my home was the stupid cat's food! When you pour it, dust rises, and i inevitably was swallowing some of it, so it does matter if it is gluten-free if you are handling it!
  3. Is anyone on this board in the wonderful world of dating? What types of things do you do on dates to avoid food? How soon do you explain whats going on to a date? I need some ideas!
  4. thanks for all of your help everyone!

  6. yeah i agree with the anemia thing, i hope your friend gets better!!
  7. you're a good mommy for being so concerned! like evreyone else said, we all make mistakes. I'm 22, and my mother who is very knowledgeable about cooking gluten-free glutened me last time i was home, the cheese was held together with wheat starch, she started to cry, but after a few days, I was ok, The fact that you care so much means you are a GOOD mom!
  8. sorry i acidentally posted twice
  9. yes the teeth problems is a big sign, i had the WORST time with my teeth as a child, countless cavities, teeth being pulled, chipping, no enamel, and way too much work done, frmo the time i was three! Only years later did my mom find out that i actually was brushing my teeth all those years, it was just the gluten that weakened them! I probably single handeldly...
  10. Good luck tommorow, i sincerely hope your Dr. is well educated in celiac and will give you the diagnoses/help you need!! What you said about being mostly gluten free is like being a little bit pregnant made me laugh so hard you have no idea, it is good you still have a sense of humor, hang in there!
  11. is MSG the thing that doesn't have gluten in it, but still makes alot of people sick with tummy aches?
  12. i really appreciate everyone helping me, its nice to be able to come to a place and discuss the gluten content of toilet paper without someone looking at you like you should go to the loony bin!
  13. your post made me laugh, thanks for the help!
  14. ok from what ya'll said, it pretty much seems like a personal choice, and i can understand those with DH being super careful, ive been gluten-free for two years, and ocassionaly i eat out and get glutened (im in college, all we do is eat! and its hard to not be able to eat anything), but i think i've been ok from toilet paper. I'm the type of celiac who chooses...
  15. ok i can see what you mean with that one
  16. Ok, i want to ask a question, i was under the impression that as long as you are not eating toilet paper or shampoo, it did not matter if gluten was in it, can someone xplain otherwise? thanks!

  18. well, at least its good to know that i'm not the only one who gets sick sometimes. i hope none of us feel like this ever again!
  19. i just find it s ohard to explain, and everyone comes off thinking i'm just a picky eater, if you're not serious enough, people will gluten you, but if you really explain whats going on, they don't want to talk to you anymore, lol when i get glutened i get very nauseous and sometimes throw up, and i don't want to have to explain that to people i just met...
  20. as i'm sure some of you did the same thing for the first year or two after diagnoses, i think i may have made an "oops"....what DOES clean gluten away from a surface, does soap and water not cut it or something like tilex? what do you all use?
  21. i was just about to reply with the same type of thing, i've gone to a ton of places like hard rock, and like the person before me said, talk to the manager, if their burgers are 100 percent beef, get a plain one and some steamed veggies or a baked potato.
  22. how do you guys explain celiac disease to someone new? How do you get your point across without either grossing someone out, or just saying its a wheat allergy. People do not take me seriously. I've tried saying its the same as giving a diabetic sugar, or its like swallowing glass....just tell me what you do, it could help me explain it better! thanks di
  23. i'm so sorry to hear your little boy is sick! Please hang in there, It must be so tough because he's just at the age where he knows something is wrong but doesn't know it's not his fault. Keep your head up! I hope things go quickly with the diagnoses, and in a way you are blessed that you can figure all of this out with him at such a young age...it took ...
  24. Outback has ALWAYS been great for me. I've never been glutened. I understand its scary eating out, trusting pretty much your life in someone elses hands, but outback actually worked side by side with the gluten intolerance group (GIG) and came up with the menu. Everyone who works there in any restaurant i've ever been to is well trained, just be sure to ask...
