Ibuprofen helps me, too. The thing that's helped me the most has been to take a Vitamin A supplement, at least 20,000 IU daily. I used to have periods from hell, no leaving the house. They got better when I was on birth control for a year, but my libido dropped by HALF on birth control, so we use condoms now. So the bad periods came back, and I read that...

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!! Or you could just get some comedy DVD's to cheer you up, I recommend Robin Williams Live on Broadway. Try to eat lots of avocado, it's good brain food. Oh, and at the health food store is a package of coconut macaroons by Jennie's, they're in a yellow canister. They're just coconut, eggs, and honey. They make good brain food...

ARCHIVED Ideas On Coping With Nausea?
JNBunnie1 replied to i-miss-cookie-dough's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Oddly enough, I used to get the nausea along with diarrhea, and when I took Imodium it helped the nausea. I think a lot of my nausea was caused by intestinal cramping. When that didnt work, my doctor gave me a drug called promethazine, and anti-nausea medication. It makes you very sleepy though, so you'd have to decide how bad you want to feel better. For... -

If that's the case, and I'm no expert, then I'd guess you're probably not ingesting enough soy to be having this kind of reaction. I might be wrong, but hey. Oh, if you'd like a filling trail mix, here's what I do. Sunflower seeds pumpkin seeds gluten-free pretzels banana chips nuts- walnuts, almonds, peanuts, pecans chocolate chips -Enjoy Life coconut... -
I know how you feel. I've finally given up worrying about how the wierd stuff I do on a regular basis appears to other people. For the longest time I wouldn't do stuff like pick a wedgie in a store or blow my nose in front of people. For some reason, sometime in the past couple years, I completely stopped caring. It's not even that I'll never see those people...

ARCHIVED I'm Still Dizzy!
JNBunnie1 replied to FootballFanatic's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Do you eat a lot of soy on a daily basis? Also, I had very low cholesterol as well. Your doctor is on the right track saying to get lots of calories, but the idea is to get fats into your diet that are digestible. Raw olive oil and avocados are a very good way to do that, and taking a good cod liver oil will help a lot. You actually need cholesterol in... -
Don't you hate that feeling? "I'm a dumba**".............. Worst feeling. When I need to eat out of a bag and my hands aren't safe I 'drink' out of the bag, which really only works with smaller bags, but it keeps the food safe.

I'm not really sure what a doctor can do for you at this point. Also, be careful with 'whole food' supplements, they frequently have wheat grass juice in them, which i understand is not safe. I would say take a B vitamin complex supplement for now and try to get enough protein in your diet, it will be needed for healing your intestines. Also, try to get a... -
ARCHIVED Can Anyone Translate This Medical Garble?
JNBunnie1 replied to i-miss-cookie-dough's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Actually, yeah, I used to have like one day of issues when I got glutened, now it takes me a month to recover. The best thing is to go cold turkey no cheating, because the longer you go gluten-free, typically, the worse the symptoms are when you DO get glutened. -

For apple crisp, I've figured out a pretty darn good recipe and for the life of me can't remeber where I got it. Anywho, here goes. 6 big baking apples, I've been using Macoun 1 cup gluten-free flour, I like a mix of sorghum and rice 1 stick butter, melted 1 tsp cinnamon 1/2 tsp nutmeg 1/2 cup brown sugar Stir the dry ingredients... -

ARCHIVED Newbie At The End Of Her Rope
JNBunnie1 replied to laughs2loud's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Everyone is different with recovery. Some people are a day or two, I take a full month. I'm a very unusual case though, I've never heard anybody else say that happens, so don't start worrying about THAT. It's usually recommended that people go dairy free along with gluten free, because we so frequently have dairy problems as well. Casein (case-in, pronounced... -

ARCHIVED Any Other Alcoholic Celiacs Out There?
JNBunnie1 replied to Shotzy1313's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
There's also the fact that you are most likely currently addicted, not to alcohol, but to gluten. I would suggest refraining from that kind of social event for at least two weeks after going gluten free, and then using one of the suggestions made here to avoid the light beer. I know you probably hear this all the time, but you also don't actually HAVE to... -

If you're getting bored with other snacks, try taking sweet potato and slicing very thin width wise, then bake flat on a cookie sheet ( I use melted butter on both sides) til dry on top, flip, bake til crispy. Much more yummy than almost any snack you can think of. -

A really great way to "eat out", if it's not a social thing for oyu and it's just that you're away from home, is to find your local grocer and just buy a package of meat and a package of cheese and some veggies in a bag. If you're really stuck in restaurants, I've found that asking someone to cook plain meat and veggies in a clean pan with just a little oil... -

ARCHIVED Dont Understand How A Tiny Bit Of Gluten Could Be So Bad...
JNBunnie1 replied to i-miss-cookie-dough's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Cindy, I don't think you're going overboard. I even saw someone bring up the idea that a person in a grocery stoe could pick up a muffin and then touch the apples, you eat the apple, you're screwed. I think there is no way we could possibly be too careful.
