  1. You know, I think I must be the strangest person out there. I'm the kind of person who may have to do something unhealthy for a while before I give it up (smoking, workaholic, drinking, sugary foods, whatever) but when I decide to give something up because it's bad for me, I go cold turkey and never do it again. So maybe for me, going gluten free was easier...
  2. Amen, again. I find myself bringing people funny books and crossword puzzles and joke books and videos (preferably of comedians) and pretty much anything I can think of to give them a giggle, because laughter is pretty much the only exercise he's going to get lying on the couch, and it helps you feel better. If I know what the person likes I bring them food...
  3. Hey, how ya doin on the second round of antibiotics? Do you feel better, like the first round?
  4. Probly cuz of the leaky gut, if you have that. Doesn't that make your insides more sensitive? I used to be addicted to coffee too, when I was working long hours. I got used to it (used to hate it) when I had a job I had to get up at four in the morning for, then i was working two jobs and my consumption went way up. I haven't been working for a few...
  5. Jin, random question, when you tried the psyllium, did you drink unreasonable amounts of water when you took it? If you don't drink something stupid like 64 ounces a day it causes constriction and bloating and stuff. Oh, and I think it's the oil in coffee that moves the bowels more, not the caffeine, because I've had endless cups of tea before and nothing...
  6. Oh, no, I know you've been gluten free, I just thought a sounding board about all the ways your family gets gluten in your food might help to give you ideas on how to prevent it. I think the white stuff on your tongue is thrush, which is the oral presentation of candida in the sytem. If you have it in your mouth (and you'lll be able to tell if that's what...
  7. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Someone (not me, can't even draw a proportionate stick figure) should start a comic strip about the dangers of Celiac disease. They could have Schwarzenegger be gluten! "I'LL BE BACK!" HAHAHAHAH!!!!
  8. Oh jeez, um. First week is excessive crapping, not diarhea, but just the food moving too fast and some cramping and gas. Also first week, worst headache ever, and fevers on and off, and EXTREME stupidity. I actually couldnt remeber the word for punctuation, my mother thought it was hilarious. Then, I discovered in my second most recent glutening, I become...
  9. I would drink some senna tea, Yogi tea has one called Smooth Move (haha) that's relatively gentle but I've never seen it not work. Should work within twelve hours, I'd exhaust that option before I spent money I didn't have on the doc. It might be an impaction though, cuz I've never heard of anyone going that long. Maybe you should get in touch with Guiness...
  10. Miriam, that actually means that it's killing the bad bugs, which is giving you gas. It's actually a good sign. I think you're supposed to slowly increase the amount you take until the gas goes away. I take a probiotic by Flora called Udo's Choice, it's in the fridge at my health food store. It seems to be working very well for me, it's potent and has 6 or...
  11. Hey, you might try that topical thing with cinnamon oil I've been doing. I don't think it works QUITE as well as ingesting it would, but it can't hurt, it makes your feet feel awake, and it smells nice! It's actually very nice to do right out of the shower in the morning, or first thing in the morning if you shower at night. Just make sure you only get it...
  12. I know that this has probably been suggested to you before, and I'm sure you've already done lots of research and stuff, but it occurred to me that perhaps supplementing with a good dose of psyllium every day might 'tighten' things up in there so you don't deal with all that fluid? Like maybe it might soak it up?
  13. My favorite chicken recipe is chicken drumsticks, because they're so much cheaper for one. I just put them in a glass or ceramic baking dish (no metal, it burns) and sprinkle craploads of spices over the skins; lemon pepper, salt, garlic, oregano, cilantro, paprika, parsley, basil. Bake for one hour at 350 and you should be done. That's for a dozen drumsticks...
  14. Well if the nitwit can't even pay attention when you say you have a sensitivity to wheat, I'd can her and find someone else, even if it's a conventional doctor. My 'conventional' doctor was PROUD of me for figuring it out myself, he didn't insist on tests because he didn't want to mess up my life insurance in the future with an official diagnosis, and has...
  15. jewi, I sort of do the same thing. I know I've been glutened within two days, but then my reaction lasts for about a month, with the symptoms changing every week or so. Only more than thirty days after glutening do the symptoms fully disappear for me.
  16. Keep in mind that cinnamon can't really be taken as a supplement though, it will burn your stomach if not eaten with food. Just in case anyone out there has those capsules and makes their own supplements. You can also use cinnamon oil topically, I've been rubbing it on the tough parts of my feet, because the oil is somewhat caustic and can feel like it's...
  17. Actually, two months after going gluten free I got the flu worse than I ever had before. I think part of it has to do with your immune system being 'busy' healing your villi, but also that your body is now 'realizing' it's vitamin deficient as well. I've seen it a few times that people are more prone to bacterial or viral infections in the 6-9 months after...
  18. If those are symptoms of a high histamine reaction, then they're related to an allergy you have, as opposed to celiac disease, I think. I never got horny when I was sneezing at the cats, though.
  19. Good lord but you two are having an awful time of it. NogluGirl, your description of your 'acne' is EXACTLY how I felt the first time I got DH. I think you need to start waging a war on getting gluten out of your diet. Maybe a good way to figure out how to do that would be to give (me, or another friend) all the reasons why you CAN'T, and then we could...
  20. I stopped having GI symptoms and fevers and passing out as soon as I stopped gluten, but it ook another year before I started to feel smart again, when I started to eat good foods like free range eggs and raw dairy and organic meats and lots of avocado and coconut stuff.
  21. I would lose the teflon, as it can create wierd side effects in a person. I cook everything in butter, and I have stainless steel pans. Ceramic coated pans will be the safest for you, probably. Also, try googling "heavy metal detox" and see what you get, you might try chlorella for cleansing. In what way do you use a lot of foil in cooking?
  22. Is what you're baking this on safe? Or any jars you keep ingredients in, jars are hard to clean. Maybe someone stuck gluteny fingers in an ingredient?
  23. Have you tried Chebe rolls, the cheese one in the orange package? I know it's not yeast rolls, but they're the best gluten free dinner roll I've had yet. Don't get the whole Foods gluten free bakehouse rolls, not worth it.....
  24. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAH!!!!!!!!!!!! Thanks for the giggle.
  25. Hi happynwgal, you might try the Solgar brand for any supplements they carry that you need, they're very good about labeling and tend to refrain from adding crap to pills that isn't needed.
