ARCHIVED Crock Pot Or Time Bake Recipes?
JNBunnie1 replied to lonewolf's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Either Health Valley in the can, I like the garden veggie one cuz it's tomato soup and has veggies which add a nice flavor (still check labels) or the boxed ones in the health food section at Stop & Shop, which is my New England grocery. Pacific and Imagine are the boxed brands. The straight tomato soup you use can't have rice flour though, so you might... -
ARCHIVED Crock Pot Or Time Bake Recipes?
JNBunnie1 replied to lonewolf's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
I discovered that if you take a london broil, put in one can of cream of anything (which you can sometimes find with only rice flour added, Health valley makes some good soups, or maybe you could add a few tablespoons of milk alternative) and then enough tomatoe soup to cover the meat, wow is it tender and not dry at all, the way pot roast can be. Just cook... -
ARCHIVED Completely Overwhelmed! Help Please
JNBunnie1 replied to GFDahlia's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I actually prefer Tom's of Maine toothpaste, they're ingredients are all pronouncable. It's super expensive, but I get it at my wholesale club. And, some flavors don't have flouride! (flouride is bad......) -
I've had vertigo so bad that I've fallen off the couch when I was SITTING on it. I get dizzy when I get glutened, when you say 'eating badly', do you mean cheating? Or just a sugar overload or soemthing?

ARCHIVED A Little Episode This Morning...
JNBunnie1 replied to goldyjlox's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
The itchy red bumps sound like DH to me, have you ever been diagnosed with that? Also, I've found that even a week after recovering from a glutening, I can have just a ''little' of the symptoms pop up again, especially if I get adjusted by the chiropractor. So all those toxins that cause your reactions are sort of built up in your system, and will release... -
ARCHIVED Think I'm Getting Glutened
JNBunnie1 replied to confusedks's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I know this sounds funny, but I might even get a lock for my room after I got all that stuff to put in there. If you can't trust him to pay attention in the kitchen, i wouldn't trust him with the stuff in your room either. Other than that, keeping everything in your room is probably the best way to go. Even stuff like carrots can be contaminated if your brother... -
You could also make your own crustless cheesecake, it would be much easier and faster than figuring out a good gluten free crust. Maybe make a bunch of mini ones and freeze them so you can have one when you're tempted by everyone else's food? And so hubby doesnt feel the need to bring things home that you can't have? I'm in hathor's boat, I get so bloody...

HAhahhahah! Yeah, that was flat out whining. I actually do feel a bit better than the last time I got glutened, not sure why. I'm just hoping the DH will be less severe too, that was the worst bit. Had it for the first time a few months ago, and WOW does that suck! And here I am complaining and I've only had it once, some people have had it for years! ...

ARCHIVED Celiac Pill
JNBunnie1 replied to hit2win1's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I don't understand why they would include just straight gluten. I mean, they know you have Celiac already, right? So there's no scientific value to damaging people who already they're 'damageable'. Only the other three options have any scientific validity. -
ARCHIVED Husband Is Depressed Because My Son And I Have Celiac
JNBunnie1 replied to evansmommie's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Perhaps there's also a bit of upset on his part now that you're no longer as ill as you were, and he's not needed as much. Maybe it's hard for him because he feels like he's being left out or is worried because you won't need him anymore? Just a few ideas, obviously I don't know your husband, but perhaps he is telling himself you're still sick so he'll still... -
HI melmak, my understanding is that if you don't feel like you were first attacked by a horde of fire ants and then wrapped in a blanket full of fleas and mosquitoes, it's probably not DH. DH itches like nothing else I've ever felt, and it kinda hurts a little bit, sort of a tightening of the skin. But pimple looking, irritated under the clothing seams, itches...

So I thought it was safe to use a particular face lotion on my lips when I couldnt find my chapstick the other day, and I was wrong......... So now I'm in for a month of yuk. For the first week I'm all dizzy and feverish and headachy and brain dead, then I get lactose intolerant for a week or so, then I get the DH for a few weeks. I'm so jealous of all the...

ARCHIVED Reintroducing Dairy (yogurt)
JNBunnie1 replied to cdfiance's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Also since Alex has diabetes, you might get plain yogurt and add applesauce or frozen cherries or blueberries, let em thaw overnight and they get a bunch of juice in there..... Better than the sugar-added stuff at the store. -
There's a silver lining to every cloud scotty, last time I got glutened, the symptoms lasted over a month.......

ARCHIVED How To Ease Accidental Gluten Consumption
JNBunnie1 replied to technikolor's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Hi technikolor, I understand how difficult it is to absorb all this. There are a lot of people here with a lot of advice, and it tends to follow the same pattern for all newbies. Here's a link to a thread with good advice, after the first post. Make sure you read about how to make your ktichen safe. Open Original Shared Link I think going gluten free... -

JNBunnie1 replied to libbyann's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Are you diagnosed Celiac? -
Actually, my friend said it would be better if my skin DID react to wheat, that way any time I got zapped from holding food I'd know it wasn't safe!

ARCHIVED We Need Help!
JNBunnie1 replied to sully's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Hi Sully, there's a list on the homepage of this website, it's in the list of links and it says it's a link for a list of ok and not ok ingredients. You might want to print it out and keep it in your purse. There's also a person here named NoGluGirl who has a list of stuff that's ok at Walmart, but ingredients change, so always read labels, even if you bought... -

Hi, this might sound strange, but at the previous time that you took Vicodin and didn't react, were you on birth control pills as well? I've seen interreactions that are unpleasant before. That, and it's always possible to develop a new problem with a drug that you didn't have a problem with before. What was the Vicodin intended to treat?

Hi Dahlia! Regardless of the reason, it totally sucks that that happened to you. However, you can rest assured that Celiac does NOT go away, and you DO still have it. Just so you know, I've heard rumors of issues with health insurance people who give you a hard time over treatment if they find out you have an undisclosed condition. So, if you ever get regular...
